Very interesting vantage point of history, if you're a Yankee. No, seriously, we enjoyed hearing the very pleasant docent speak about the War of 1812 as told from a Canadian view point. The park is in a beautiful setting with a wide waterfront view. There are several buildings including a small museum. We stayed for the muzzle demonstration and looked around the barracks.

Amherstburg has done a great job putting together historical information and preserving this site. Don't miss it or the beautiful flowers all along the river and next door.

I'm a history nut and was impressed with the amount of training the docents obviously had. Most of them appeared to be college age. They had a great working knowledge of the time period (1830's) the fort's daily life and running's as well as the artifacts and reproductions. This place is GREAT for kids. VERY hands on making history come alive. The museum was closed due to renovations but the other buildings were open with lots of friendly, costumed staff to answer questions. We are looking forward to going back to see the museum when the renovations have been completed.They also participate in the Explorer program for children. Our kids love going to the Canadian National Parks and participating in the program, collecting their dog tags as they go.

.We went to the fort this past week and we enjoyed it a lot. Everyone who worked here are so nice and knowledgeable about the fort. The grounds are beautiful and the view is fantastic,a a bald eagle swooped down right in front of us. We learned a lot and are so glad we finally made it to Fort Malden.

We went here as part of the Canada Wide Science Fair and they did not disappoint. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides went through the history and what life was like in the fort, and it ended with a demonstration firing of a musket. The kids loved it. As a history buff, I loved it too!

Great place to see 1812 history. Dress up like a soldier. Eat old fashion bread, butter and pea soup. Even let you make it. If you like history you will like Fort Malden

Wonderful place to visit with so much history to share. Both young and old visitors love checking out all of the exhibits and enjoying the beautiful grounds surrounding the fort.

I have visited this historic site hundreds of times going back over 65 years to when I was a young lad who used to join dozens of others to toboggan on the slopes of the fortification. I would really prefer the old exhibits rather than the modernized displays that they have now since it takes away from the original feel. Enjoy coming here on the grounds for the various festivals related to the town of Amherstburg. You have got to visit this place.

The town of Amherstburg is a little gem. Very quaint and charming. Amherstburg is also the home to Fort Malden where part of the war of 1812 was fought. As others have pointed out, the Fort is situated on the lovely Detroit River just south of Windsor. It is an idyllic setting. When we were there, we witnessed several re-enactments of life in the early 1800's . We were impressed with the staff who showed us how the Fort operated in these years. The buildings have been restored and they have many original pieces of equipment. Also check out the wineries in the area.

A very worthwhile piece of our past. The grounds are well kept. The view along the river are second to none. To realize this area was so vital to our nation's past is unreal. Amherstburg's small town appeal is very real. Essex county offers various attractions for one and all. Would recommend this area anyone.
