As other reviewers state the only way to get to Salomon is to hike the trail. It's a nice hike and keeps the beach quieter. After meeting friends at the ferry we walked to the trail entrance which is a short walk, hiked the trail and enjoyed a swim at Salomon Beach. It is a beautiful beach, small and somewhat narrow with some shade. We enjoyed watching the boats moored in the area and traveling by. While we were there quite a few dinghy's came ashore which took up some of the beach area. From there we continued on the trail over to Honeymoon Beach. Be sure to go to the overlook where you can get a fantastic few high above Cruz Bay. If you find yourself in Cruz Bay it's a great hike to do with the reward of a beautiful beach at the end.

Gorgeous beach, I mean spectacularly beautiful, some excellent snorkeling around the rocks on the northeast side of the beach, and as you have to hike in, it is usually blissfully quiet or even empty. Of course, that also means there are no services (food, bathrooms, chair rental, etc.). I would not recommend trying to get down there with little kids; the hike isn't terrible difficult, but I wouldn't call it easy either.

The only way to this secluded pristine beach is by boat or to hike in on the Lindt Trail which can be accessed in Cruz Bay by the Visitor Center, or along Rt. 20 on the north side of the road near the Virgin Island National Park sign where there are several parking spaces. The trailhead is near the sign, not by the parking area. It is about a half mile walk with a 250 foot descent down with lots of rocks and tree roots which dictates packing minimally with the basic beach towel, sun screen, snacks, water and snorkel gear. The beach is in a sheltered cove and lacks facilities. It lays just before Honeymoon Beach which is the beach just east and is separated from Solomon Beach by a fringed reef. The soft, white, gradual sandy beach has patches of sea grass for snorkeling close to shore, but more interesting near the reef. The tall and small coconut trees offer plenty of dappled shade for a perfect, lazy day in the sun balanced with a bit of walking activity---PERFECT!

Beautiful Beach! Quiet, low key and tranquil. Not many people go here. You don't need to take a taxi. Just a 10 to 15 min hike and your there. Note: wear shoes for the hike to the beach. The path can be rocky.Highly recommend!!!

We visited on March 3, 2015 and loved this hidden gem. We took the ferry from St Thomas to Cruz Bay and hiked from the trail head to Salomon Beach (20 minutes each way). For a young, active couple, we easily hiked it in our sandals, carrying our bag, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend that for everyone. Salomon Bay was absolutely pristine and not over crowded. Many of the people hiking near us opted to continue to Honeymoon Beach, but our preference is the more off the beaten path type of place, and we couldn't have been happier. There are no amenities or facilities, and you must carry off your trash. I would recommend this beach all day long!

You have to hike into this beach, so it tends to not be as busy as other beaches on the North Side. We packed for the day and had a lovely time. Good snorkeling and lovely water.

need to hike in so that keeps many of the people away. takes about a 1/2 hour and it is a moderate level hike. better get a map before making the hike just to be safe. it is just perfect. need to bring food, water, etc. spend the day with feet in the sand and snorkeling (some of the best). a camera and a book would be a good idea.

Worth the hike! Private, not crowded, excellent snorkeling. A short hike format he national park visitors center is the only way to get there and it is worth the beach. It is a remote beach without conveniences so bring water and lunch.

I loved the coconut trees so close to the water...it was a very magical beautiful place! We hiked to it in the morning. You can park you rental jeep at the National Parks Visitor's center and give the lady at the desk your drivers licence. She will give you a permit to put on your dash board. Just be back by 4:30 to claim your licence before they close. It is a pretty easy hike, just a couple of short steep areas. Be sure to hike to Honeymoon Beach after enjoying Solomon. We even went on to Caneel, but we took an open-air tax back to the Visitor's Center instead of hiking all the way back. Lind Trail is the name of the trail.

Wear your sneakers for the walk and don't plan to bring a big cooler, but the beach is lovely amd not crowded. Think honeymoon is a bit nicer and a bit closer, but it compares to our top 3.
