I wasn't quite sure what to expect in this 2 hour tour, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was informative, not only about the rum and bitters-making processes, but also the history of the area. We were only three on the tour so we enjoyed a very personalized tour from our fantastic guide Michelle. Time flew by as we wandered through the butterfly exhibit, the museum, a short history video and then for a tour outside to the bottling room and finally, the secret bitters room! We timed the outside tour perfectly since we arrived just as the molasses truck did! We got to watch as he delivered his load, thick blackstrap molasses... Wow! Oh, and how could I forget the tastings! I found a few more Angostura products I'll be buying in the near future... Including Mokatika coffee liqueur. Can you say "Yum!"?All in all a must-do during a stay in Trinidad, even if you're not a rum lover. I was amazed at the different uses for bitters. See if you can guess the ingredients in the mixture. I got at least 5! Naturally, it's never been revealed, and only a select few know the recipe (apparently it's such a secret that none of them know who the others are and they rotate them for each batch!). So, needless to say, it's now going to become a permanent fixture in my cupboard. And don't forget to heed the road signs... 'Don't Walk, Rum!'

This was a great tour. Michelle our Guide was knowlegeable and kept the tour interesting and well paced. We received an informed history of Angostura Bitters and it's place in Trinidad. The Butterfly collection was amazing. From what I learned about Angostura Bitters, I can now say I will always have it on hand. I had no idea what a useful ingredient it is and will be shareing what I know about it with everyone. I also picked up the Diamond Jubilee Limited Edition Bitters as a keepsake.I would reccommend the tour to anyone visiting Trinidad, and the Rum and Bitters to those that can't.

The tour was very interesting and informative. Our guide, Wendell, was fantastic and really made the two hours fun with his knowledge and humour. The tour starts with a brief video detailing the history of Angostura before you move into where the Bitters are made. The recipe is a closely guarded secret but you see how the process works once the ingredients are mixed. You then move onto the butterfly collection and a small museum where you learn why the label is too big for the bottle! Lastly you visit the huge room where the rum is bottled and labelled and on the way pass the cylinders containing the molasses which let off a distinctive smell. After the tour you can go to the bar and get free samples of the different varieties of Angostura rum!

Great tour and very informative. Am just amazed that Angostura Bitters is World Famous. The Management should consider opening a day of the weekend because there are people who can't make it during the week for The Tour or people who are visiting Trinidad only for a weekend etc.

We toured the Angostura complex and found it very informative. The secret formula for making the bitters was never revealed. Very fascinating how the product is manufactured from the field to the shopping shelf with the exception of growing the sugarcane. They use the molasses produced off island and from this they make bitters, rum, and wine. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and very patient. Our 2 1/2 hour tour was well worth it.

As I had done this tour 3 years ago and enjoyed it very much I organised another one this year. Using the same excellent transport tour company www.jessejamesmembersonly.com we arranged for them to pick us up outside the Hyatt hotel (we had arrived by cruise ship) and on time 3 coaches arrived with their excellent and very knowledgeable guides/drivers.Firstly we were driven around the city with explanations of the places of interest and then we parked in the road which houses the 7 magnificent buildings of interest there. We walked along the road with the guides explaining what the buildings were and how they were now being used. This walk ended just outside the entrance of the Botanic gardens. We did not have to walk back as 2 of the drivers had brought the buses to us.We then drove to the Angostura Bitters distillery and after being welcomed warmly were taken through the exhibition hall and museum with clear advises of how this drink came into being and the family who started it.Of course no secrets were given but the whole was most interesting. We then had lunch which was included in the cost of the tour and after this were taken into the distillery factory itself to watch the bottling and labelling of one of the whiskys which they also distill.I could have watched for hours as the whole activity is so well organised and clever.Back top the lounge and bar where we were treated to as many of the whiskys and we would like to taste and there was no limit to this. On then to the shop where we could purchase any of their drinks at knock down prices - to bring back to Australia you understand!!.The drive back to the ship took a slightly different route and we saw a banana plantation and tasted some of this fruit straight off the plant - delicious.Back to the ship in plenty of time for sailaway and as always a great trip from Jesse James and his colleagues.

This was a great tour of the brewery, butterfly collection and the interesting history of Angostura bitters and rum. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and her style was very engaging. Beware, do not touch anything in the bitters room....it will cost you a pretty penny...but the aroma is delightful....the tasting session was great and at the end of the tour you can purchase a bottle of something special :-)

We loved the tour of the Angostura factory/museum and butterfly exhibit. Best part might have been the taste testing at the end (surprise!) but the whole visit was informative and fun. We learned about the history of their production and the origin of Angostura's bitters (but not the secret recipe). Short tram ride around the factory site, watched a video, toured the museum, and saw the buttefrly collection. Just after tasting the rums, mixers, etc., we had a great lunch in the cafeteria afterwards with real trini food. Nice gift shop too with plenty of drinks for sale, as well as t-shirts, cookbooks, etc. I can't remember if children are welcomed, but they would love the butterfly museum if so.

A pesar de ser un recorrido para adultos, toman en cuenta a los niños, haciendo actividades especiales para ellos. Se puede pagar el recorrido con tarjeta de credito. Incluye una degustacion de los productos de Angostura y ademas se puede comprar los mismos a precios muy bajos (recomiendo comprar bastantes pack con las dos botellas de amargo de angostura, pues salen mucho mas economicas que en cualquier otro lado)
