We arrived on a weekday, and the gentlemen at the desk were very friendly, and willing to speak to us in Spanish slowly enough that we could understand. We really wanted to speak in Spanish on this trip, and sometimes, our halting attempts inspired the locals to switch to English. I appreciated his willingness to let us go on in Spanish. As far as the museum, it was clean, lovely, and had great information available -- in a format that made sense. I loved the way everything was separated by room.

Great museum just a short walk from the main square in a beautiful house. It is filled with good visual displays in multiple rooms depicting the history, culture, and settlement of Ponce mostly in Spanish. However, we were given pamphlets in English which helped. It covers many different topics that would be of interest to most. Highly recommended.

The museum had some very interesting history of the city and island. Ponce is one of the main attractions for any history buff.

Although a number of these small museums dont shout out to be visited ( as they look like very nice homes from the outside) most have a person in a type of uniform stood in the doorway so just ask.We were shown around by a very enthusiatic young lady who spoke with passion and pride in her voice when describing the most basic of fact whether about a painting, a bed or a high ceiling. It was a very pleasant and informative experience and free and they wont take a tip.

I really thought it would be more than rum in the history of Ponce! The city is nice and interesting as well as the firestation, but as for museums it is really not that interesting. San Juan has much more to offer.

Special thanks to Ronald, who was an amazing guide and excited to tell me everything about his hometown. Ponce is full of a lot of history and culture, from the mudslide to Carnival, and I enjoyed learning all about it here. Ronald also recommended a great restaurant around the corner. It's free to get in so be sure to stop by on your Ponce trip. All you need is 30 minutes-1 hour.

We were in Ponce for 2 days and visited this museum. It is located in a historic, beautiful building from 1911.The museum interior is set up very nicely with lots of illustrations, photos and everything is well organized in different rooms. The man at the front desk offered us a guided tour because at that time we were the only visitors. He was very nice and the whole tour was super interesting. We can really recommend this great museum because you definitely learn a lot about Ponce and also about whole Puerto Rico.It was one of the best stops on our 1-week trip around the island.

Well laid out museum. We were surprised by the number of rooms in the museum. I'm glad I finally had a chance to visit. Museum was worth a visit. However, unlike other museums, I see no need to return to this one.

OK, but I thought that I was going to see more artifacts, relics of ancient residents of the island. Too much time was spent on one particular artist, a photographer, and not enough on historical paintings. The docent's descriptions were very interesting, but spoke with broken english.

I learned stuff here that I never knew. It's awesome to see how Puerto Rico has evolved. This is a definite must and there is no fee to go.
