I did my Advanced Scuba Diving with them. They completed my shore dives with them and they booked me on a great boat and deep sea dive. They were really helpful, flexible with times and very spontaneous with responses. David was the one i was communicating with and he made my diving experience much better. They are shut at times but that is because they are out on dives.

The recreational diving industry is integrated by many elements. As an active and in good standing member (Puerto Rico), Scuba Dogs, collaborates with other dive centers. Situated in San Juan, we offer booking services for dive centers outside the metro area such as in this scenario. While Scuba Dogs is only responsible for booking the service, it is agreeable that it might be perceived as if Scuba Dogs is responsible for actually servicing the guest; although It is true "perception is reality" , in this case we face a misperception of the facts. Just to clarify our dive operation is responsible for the booking, and that was done accordingly. Scuba Dogs empathize and is truly as frustrated as our dear guest . Situations like this are unacceptable. Scuba Dogs is taking steps to get assurances from our partners so no guests is ever left behind, especially if it was us doing the booking. In regards to payment, fortunately, our booking service is built so no guest is charged or pays before hand. So our guest was not, and never will be, charged for this.We appreciate and welcome guest comments, especially because it help us to become a better dive center. Thank you and remember...always keep it safe!

If you want to review your relation with nature this is a most. Your going to feel the respect and admiration from the crue to all the plants and sea creatures, plus a beautifull experience diving independently if it's your first time or not.

This place was in San Juan and was recommended by our cruise line. My husband and I "tried" scuba diving in the pool in Costa Rica, but here they allow you the full experience without prior training or license. Your are given a brief intro and all your equipment and are allowed to go down about 30-40 feet or so. When on a cruise you are sometimes limited by time as to what excursion you want to do, but we got the best of both worlds with these guys! We got a guided scenic tour of San Juan on our way to the site, and then given a walking tour of the battle ground we were on after diving. I would not recommend this site for snorkeling if you are looking for amazing coral reefs, unless it is your first time or you are with small children. It was also very hot that day and they provided us with fresh ice water and water bottles. The hospitality was amazing and I can not say enough amazing things about this company and its workers.

We recently booked a Puerto Rico shore dive with Scuba Dogs through a Disney Fantasy cruise. It's a little shop, but the staff was terrific. The four of us had our own guide, which is a very good dive master to diver ratio. Entry and exit from the water was relatively easy, and there was plenty of sealife to see. Viz wasn't great, but good enough for comfortable diving. I believe I saw more fish during this dive than I did during a comparable one in Hawaii--several large schools of good-sized fish and my first sighting of a jellyfish, flounder, and lion fish. If you're looking for a nondemanding shore dive with a wonderfully friendly staff good with "Discover Scuba" divers as well as relatively inexperienced divers and more advanced divers divvied up according to experience, give Scuba Dogs a try!

I have been on about 50 dives which is not too many but enough to know a little bit about nothing. I have been to some great dive sites and with many different instructors. I went with someone who hadn't been before so he had to get certified but we had a great time and ended up just being able to do a shallow dive in the cove but saw some a few fish I hadn't ever seen before. This was my first experience seeing a seahorse and a flying fish pretty cool. We are headed out again tomorrow with them and I expect the same. Great time and a great instructor.

I came to Puerto Rico for my birthday with three activities I HAD to do; scuba diving being on the top of my list. Having been once before, I was really looking forward to doing it again. Having read a few reviews about Scuba Dogs as well as seeing their advertisement in one of our hotel magazines, we decide to choose them for our excursion. My girlfriend calls and sets up the reservation for Tuesday, August 6th; they take her credit card information to hold our place on the boat, and tells us we will be picked up between 6:15-6:30 am. So instead of enjoying a nite on the town for my birthday evening we head back to the hotel to prepare for the early wake-up call. The next morning we get downstairs and wait over an hour and a half in our lobby...no pick up. We start calling all the available numbers we have for Scuba Dogs...no answer. After dozens of calls from 7-10 am, we finally reach someone. We were told they would call the Fajardo location and call us back. An hour passes...no phone call. After a few more tries, we reach somebody who tells us our information was never forwarded to the appropriate party. We were told another boat would be leaving Friday; which would have been perfectly fine if we weren't leaving Friday morning at 6 am; which was why we booked a Wednesday dive!!! We were then offered to partake in another dive, which took off from the shore; the option we declined when booking our original reservation. To sum up this experience, or lack there of; poor communication and lack of professionalism has equated to lots of wasted time as well as a wasted opportunity to participate in the One activity I wanted to engage in during my trip. Vacations are opportunities to participate in once in life time activities in different locations; and Scuba Dogged me out of an experience...Thanks!!!

Great dive instructors. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this business. Loved the reef. Their attention to detail and safety was outstanding. My daughter and I took a refresher before the dive as our last dive in Florida was nerve racking. We were totally comfortable with this dive.

A beautiful location, solid equipment, and courteous was nearly ruined by the misguided ramblings of the manager. For nearly 30 minutes, he proceeded to give an annoying history lesson, complete with laminated pictures. Time is a precious commodity, even more so during a cruise ship port of call visit. Dump the lesson and get right to the scuba diving, kayaking, and snorkeling.

I am a beginner diver with only the 4 logged dives from my PADI open water course in Roatan back in '08. When I visited San Juan earlier this month, I came with the intention of getting back into diving. The tourism concierge at the Marriott recommended Scuba Dogs in Escambron Marine Park. When I called them up, Chris told me over the phone that PR was being buffeted by a cold front with some nasty winds, and that he didn't think I'd be happy with the underwater visibility and other underwater conditions. However, when I explained to him that I was just looking for an easy refresher dive and lesson, in preparation for an open water dive in Fajardo (more on that in a second), he offered to have an instructor take me out into the bay for $100.When I arrived at the dive shop, Chris was there to greet me and had me fill out a simple form. When I came back after lunch, my master diver instructor, Luis, was ready to go and had the equipment ready in no time. Luis was patient in showing me how to ready the equipment and test it out. He then took me out into a few feet of shallow water off the beach and had me do the standard training exercises underwater (removing and replacing the respirator, recovering a lost respirator, blowing water out the mask) repeatedly until he was comfortable I had them down pat. We then spent the next 30-40 minutes underwater observing debris, a few schools of fish, and couple of turtles. When we got to the edge of the bay, he insisted we turn back because the current was too strong to go out any further. As Chris had warned, the visibility was terrible; I couldn't see more than 6-7 feet in front of me, and lost Luis several times. Even so, for someone who hadn't been diving in over 5 years, it was a good one to get under my belt. My only minor complaint was that it felt like the dive was cut a bit short. I had 1,300 psi left in my tank when Luis decided to head into shore, and since we never went lower than 8', I could have used it up until the very end since there was no need for a safety stop. Overall, though, these guys were really helpful and professional, and I came away feeling ready for a real open water dive.Unfortunately, I never made it out on the water again this trip; because of the winds and choppy waves, none of the dive centers in Fajardo (or any other parts of the island for that matter; I called all over) were sending out boats the last days of my trip. (From what I read on blogs, PR is vulnerable to these kinds of cold fronts, at least this time of year; diving enthusiasts be warned.) But I intend to get back in the water ASAP, and thanks to Scuba Dogs, I should be ready.
