(Petra Bacovska)

Based on Trip Advisor reviews, we rented a car and drove from the Bridgetown cruise port to the St Nicholas Abbey and really enjoyed the $18/pp tour of this nicely restored sugar plantation. This was one of the historic highlights of our day long trip to Barbados and I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to experience an old sugar plantation. You can sample the excellent rum and enjoy the tropical trees in the courtyard behind the plantation house. Don't miss the walk over to the old sugar millTip- turn left out of the plantation and visit Cherry Hill to view the beaches on the windward side of Barbados!

What a place ....steeped in history ...you must watch the video of the early settlers coming into Barbados from the uk ...fascinating ....building bricks from Bonnybridge in Scotland were used for ballast on the tall ships , then unloaded , and used around the Abbey for paths ....amazing connection ..

The abbey is well worth the trip. There were a few highlights from watching the cane being crushed to listening to the guide talk us through the downstairs rooms of the main house to watching the interesting film from the 1930s. They have also converted the stables to make a nice spot for a drink or lunch. The only bit that could be improved would be to have a bit more information about the rum distilling process rather than be told how much we can buy the bottles of rum for (the answer is they are very expensive!). It would also be nice to see other parts of the building but I am not sure if they have been restored.

A specialty rum distiller and plantation. Beautiful set up - the stable turned into a key building was especially nice - as was the terrace area. Maureen gave a very nice tour and went out her way to see that we got to see everything despite the last tour already had begun. Recommend visiting this - only wish I could have had a moonlight dinner there but we were heading home that day! Thanks

They will etch your bottle while you wait and the rum is oh so smooth. Grounds are beautiful and the drive is too.
