It was great to lay on such an amazing beach and have wonderful drink and food service from Uncle Ernies!

Ate here for the first time on our recent trip to Anguilla and loved the food. Their lobster and chicken pockets are a must have! If you are in the mood for just a hamburger, you won't be disappointed. Staff was very friendly and you can't beat the view looking out at Shoal Bay. They also have a killer Mango Colada.

I have eaten here twice now on two separate vacations. The fish is super fresh. They put it over a basic salad - but that is also super fresh. My kids loved their burgers. This is a super casual place on the beach. But they have excellent food.

If you come to Anguilla, take a taxi directly for Uncle Ernie's. Wonderful food, great prices, the best beach view around. The snorkeling is amazing, just a quick swim from Uncle Ernie's. You can rent equipment for only 10 bucks, and it's also only 10 bucks for an umbrella and 2 chairs. This is a special, low-key place on the most gorgeous beach that I've ever seen.

Not sure why this is ranked as Nightlife in Anguilla - not even sure they open late - it is really a beach Shack - a good one with good cost/benefit ratio - we had lunch there on the 2014 Anguilla day, so it was nice to be with locals watching the boatrace pass by in front of us. If you go to Shoal Bay East do yourself a HUGE favor and walk to the right hand side of the beach till you reach Gwens Restaurant (you can also drive there) - the place is also very good but the BEACH is paradise on Earth!

If you find yourself on East Shoal Beach do yourself a favor and eat at Uncle Ernie's. The food was great and the view is unbelievable. The will provide you with 2 chairs and an umbrella for lying on the beach for the usual $20.00

I ventured over to the "new" Uncle Ernie's during our recent trip to SBE. I had read online that they had some sort of lobster sandwich and I was dying to try it. The lobster pocket did not disappoint! It was delicious. No one was at the restaurant on this day (Sunday, April 13th). There was a DJ playing some fun music. Service was fairly quick. I was surprised that they handed me a pager device- similar to the one you get at the 99 restaurants here in the States. Because this sandwich was so tasty my whole group (3 couples) decided to try them for lunch the next day. The place was very busy and we were told a 45 min. wait for food but being island time, no biggie. However, as the time stretched into 1 1/2 hrs. and people had come and gone in the place and nothing had come out of the kitchen except a couple plates of French fries in the last half hour, we got rather antsy. They did rather reluctantly agree to give us beers for our wait. I explained how wonderful they had been the day before and so had brought our whole group. We had ordered individually as couples and somehow the 2nd couples food came out after the 3rd couples. Same order, different side. The food was good but I would suggest that you look to see how many patrons are in the restaurant before you decide to dine there. This was the only place on Shoal Bay that we had an issue with. It seems like they can't handle a large volume of people

Burgers and BBQ. Some salads but I went with the chicken and rib combo. Reasonably priced and easy for a day at Shoal Bay. Get a beach chair and umbrella from Ray Deman and you're good to go. Beers at Ernie's only $2.50. Nice!

Very reasonably priced. Dined on great bbq and rum drinks. Friendly staff, great service, free parking, right on Shoal Bay East.

On our first trips to Anguilla in 2004/2005, we absolutely loved Uncle Ernie's - great, simple food at a great price. We were a little disappointed on our last visit. First, they didn't have half of what they advertised. No crayfish, conch, etc. Luckily, they had just caught local fish, so we all got the fish sandwich. Completely mediocre. It seemed like the cook couldn't decide if they were going to fry it or sear it, so the result was a kind of oily presentation that was neither - and it wasn't particularly hot, either. The fries tasted like they'd been sitting in the bottom of the fryer and weren't made to order. The rum punch was sickeningly sweet. While service is always somewhat slow in the Caribbean, this was a bit ridiculous. I noticed Ernie himself passed away in 2007. Perhaps this is the reason why they are on the decline. Unfortunately, this is now off my go-to list. There are far too many good beach bars on Anguilla to waste a lunch on one that can't deliver the basics. Sorry!
