Excellent views, on site tour guide expects a "decent tip", but is certainly very knowledgeable. Well worth a visit though.

We came here as part of an island tour and it was worth it for the views alone. You can see right out across the northern part of the island from this commanding former British fortress. It was built to give a look out across the seas and act as a gun emplacement against enemy shipping, but it is also fortified towards the internal part of the island - as a defence against attacks from the carib islanders. There are interesting paintings and a very reasonable gift shop. As ever, the accompaniment of the steel drums is around and this helps the atmosphere.

It was a lovely clear day, we enjoyed the beautiful views. our guide was very knowledgable and polite. cost was $3 pp. Interesting to find out that there is a women prison on site with 16 incarcerated women!

We went by taxi from town. Not much to see inside fort but the views from there are worth the visit.

We stopped at Fort Charlotte as part of a tour of the West coast of St. Vincent. We had a guide take us around and show us the various points of interest. Part of the fort is still being used as a women's prison. The leper's pool on the beach was interesting - it looked like it would have been a nice place to bathe in! Apparently it is still used by fishermen, but it doesn't appear to have a public access road to reach it.There are still several interesting outbuildings, one with paintings depicting the early history of St. Vincent and the Caribs.Great views were to be had of Kingston and the surrounding area. If you love a bird's eye view, this is the place for you!You are also able to see the boatyard where they supposedly constructed the ship used in 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. I wasn't expecting to have to pay for a guide, as we were on a tour hosted by Sailor's tours, but we tipped the guy that was giving the tour, as he was quite knowledgeable and informative.

A steep short walk to the fort from where your bus/taxi stops but there is very little here to occupy much time.

Not a whole lot to see of the fort, but the view was outstanding. You can drive most of the way up, and only a short walk. Worth taking a look!

Since it's situated on the top of a highland, the view of the bay and Kingstown is amazing from here. The Fort has been kept intact and clean. Although there's not much left, the place has been well-preserved. Our guide named Cavo, bless his young heart, has been very informative and didn't hold back on giving all the infos and had answered our questions diligently. You should definitely look for him when you get here. The Fort Charlotte is a place you shouldn't miss when you're in St. Vincent.

I would say the fort itself is average to good. The walls and guns are still in place, but there is not a lot more left to see. However, the view of the town and the ocean from the top of the fort was lovely. Certainly worth a short visit if you enjoy history and forts.
