Loved the cave itself, the 22m side was amazing and you could see all the way to the bottom of most parts, the water was super clear but a few locals had too much to drink and were splashing some of the tourists that did not want to get wet. Overall beautiful, must see!

This cave was walking distance (30 min) from our resort. There are 5 kinds of bats and many cave drawings/paintings. If the guide is not at the booth, just wait a few moments. When he finishes with the group ahead of you he will re-appear, collect your 5 CUC, provide you with a flashlight, and take you inside. Even without bats and pictographs these caves would be interesting because of the tree roots that have grown down through the roof, the interesting colours from the rock, and the lighting that falls in through the holes.

This small cave has several entrances and skylights. It has two attractions. The first point of interest consists of 47 red or black prehistoric pictographs. These include depictions of humans, arrows, concentric circles, dots, and what I would call abstract art, i.e., I cannot figure out what the artist was trying to show. The second attraction is the five species of bats that cluster in pockets in the ceiling. When disturbed, the bats fly around the rooms.

We visited this cave in a rainy day and the guide was surprised that anybody is coming. He took us a round in a "first" hotel of Varadero as he said. Because of bats in a cave, there was no mosquitos in a past, so people stayed there for a night. They have a regular visitor coming from Transsilvania every year... A nice visit with very nice guide, seeing some bats in a cave and heard about the history of cave and drawings there. And when we left, there was another visitors coming already, so we were not the only ones at the day. You can get here by Hop-on/Hop-off bus, just say to person in bus that you want step out in a Cueva de Ambrosio and she will say to you when you need step out. Just accross the street in the cave and if you are quick, you can step in the same bus after half an hour to the opposite direction unless you want to see the hotel area from the bus

This a late review ...I was there in December 2013 with my 11 year old son. I was a bit worried about his reaction as I knew prior to going there there was live bats. He was a bit creepd out as it is dark but he realy enjoyed the experience as I did. We were both facinated with the cave paintings. I felt that the guide was great as we did not go there on any tour. He was full of knowledge and nice. I would have liked to explore the cave more however my son wanted to leave. I didn't see any crystals.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the bat cave. Our tour guide Rene was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. He was friendly and made me feel comfortable inside the cave with all the bats flying around. We were able to take many pictures and found the tour very informative. The location was a short walk from our resort, right on the main highway. You wouldn't know it though as once you're deep inside the cave you can't hear any noises except the bats. The cost was a reasonable $5 CUC per person.Highly recommend!

When people ask me what I liked most about my trip to Cuba I always tell them that it was our trip to the Cueva de Ambrosio! We arrived with the Varadero Beach Bus Tour around 45 minutes before closing, which was beneficial for us because we were the only visitors. The guide gave us torch and 20 minutes to explore the cave on our own. To me it was so exciting, and somehow scary, to explore the dark cave all by ourselves. There are also lots of bats which was actually the best thing about the cave. First you can only hear them from the inside of the cave and when you follow the noises and look up you can find them sleeping in any holes of the rocks and you are suddenly surrounded by hundreds. It was really fascinating be so close to such an high amount of bats that hang above you and fly around you. I haven't done anything like this before, so maybe this is the reason why it impressed me so much.I recommend you to go at a time where there is no rush on the cave and to go in small groups. This makes the atmosphere so much better!

Amazing place to visit, not too far from the hotels, I can say that's in the walking distance. It took 35 minutes from my hotel. First thing you'll notice is that there is never any people in the caves. The guide (well educated University graduate) will tell you everything you want to know, and I used my video camera to record every bit of his speech and all the significant places around the caves for no extra charge! He was patient, kind and profesional to explain everything we wanted to know. Those are some of the most spectacular caves in Cuba, consisting of five interconnecting galleries. Some of the largest caves of Cuba, this place is well-known for amazing pictographs! If you try to ask yourself how indigenous people from pre-Columbus time knew to find perfect North without a compass and to draw that direction underground on a rock - it is very hard to find a logical answer! But, there are theories... I will leave you to discover them from the guide! You will quickly discover that numerous bats are also living in the huge cave. Enjoy them! Some of the highlights of the cave are the “swimming caves” which are perfect for snorkeling... but I have to admit, I never explored that option further. I spent almost all day with the ancient drawings! There is a local bus for the place, very cheap... taxis as well... but enjoy the walk... it is worth it!

The man was so enthusiastic about the caves, it was 5 cuc to go in with a torch many bats flying about and cockroaches scurrying around. Absolutely amazing ancient cave drawings, very unspoilt. Really worth a visit as long as you're not squeemish !!

As the caves were only about 15 minutes walk from our hotel we decided to give it a go. We were luck enough to be the only ones there at the time so we had a personal tour which takes about 25 minuets. The guide was really good we saw the drawings on the wall, the ants and cockroaches but best of all were the bats they were fab. He then gave us torches so we could have a look around by our selves and take more photos. Well worth a visit for only 5CUC each.
