Great snow on four interconnected faces of the mountain with ample lifts. The quantity and speed of lifts meant that there were almost no queues, although the gondola sometimes has a short wait. Skiing is a combination of greens and reds but not too many blacks.

As most review here ! Nothing beat the evening ski here, lift chair operates until 8.30pm, went on end Feb, powder snow is still very consistent especially during 6-8pm !! Highly recommended slope for skiers/snowboarders up tonintermediate level ! A great family slope is available too ! Definitely will come back

Have been coming here for the last 9 years, and this will be the last for a few years, unfortunately. Despite the positive development of the hotel, rental, and dining infrastructure in Hirafu, the unfortunate lack of development of the ski facilities (which all are dependent on), is very much lacking. There has been hardly any upgrade of the archaic ski lifts and marginal upgrade of the sole gondola. Regular strong winds result in frequent shutdown of many ski-lifts, resulting in long waiting lines that one spends most of our time stuck at. The proportion of skilled skiers also result in most of the 'off piste' options very much completely exploited and no longer untouched. This time, I resorted to driving 2 out of the 3.5 days I was in the area skiing at the nearby Rutsutsu resort. Not only were the lift passes cheaper, but the options for the advance skier were more plentiful, with less crowds and a much more enjoyable experience. The only plus was the dining options I was familiar within around Hirafu. But that again is steadily dwindling as I discover superb options that may not yet be as foreigner friendly in the other areas.Time to look for a more unspoilt resort to enjoy whilst Niseko goes through its 'growth spurt'.

We (family of three with 18 yo daughter) have just returned from Niseko. It was fantastic. The complimentary buses were crowded but OK - its just a short ride to and from the slopes. No crowds or real waits to get up lifts compared to other countries. We often found ourselves skiing down the slopes in the afternoon and we would be on the only ones of the run - it was gorgeous. And the only loud drinking groups of single, 30 and under, men were not (thank goodness) from Australia. Not that we saw many of these groups anyway. I can confirm it was not really a cultural experience. I did not feel immersed in Japanese culture. That said, the snow was just so good - some icy bits - but overall fantastic. I wonder if it is because we have travelled toward the end of peak season that our experience was different?
