I went for the trek from nepli to kansal forest which is organised every year by the forest Dept. Chandigarh Administration, and trust me it was a memorable moment worth visiting place. Kudos to Chandigarh Admin for sucha crisp and steady arrangement for the trek providing refreshments at every km of the trek which was a full 8-10 km trek, and after that a warm hospitality provided by the brunch by The Chandigarh Beckons Hotel. Regarded as the hot spot for picnic also.

Its always good to see a place like this.This one is a part of sukhna wildlife sanctuary.Spent whole day in this reserve forest and enjoyed our day.Entry with permit only.

Probabaly, this one is the beat forest i had ever visited. Usually, nowadays, there is a lot of dirt amongst these places, but, this one is the best. It is a part of Sukhna Wildife Sanctuary. Huge varieties of bird an animals like deer, monkey, jackals etc. Entry by permit only.

Nepli Forest Reserve is a part of Sukhna Wildife Sanctuary; it is a hilly forested area of the Shivaliks. The route to Nepli is via ‘Saketri’ village of Haryana which is not far from the Sukhna Lake end. One should enter the spot with a valid permit and after making entry at d gate quoting the permit no.. and vehicles with no. Of persons. The road leads to d spot is not upto the mark with lot of pebbles n stones. Narrow road ONE way road for vehicles. You cant even stop ur vehicle. This is a Nature Trek Spot and the view you get to see are good. Since its a natural trail you can take and you should take eatables inside the sanctuary because enroute you will not find anything to eat or drink.The best time to visit the spot is on oct-mar. One can visit this forest from 0900 to 1700 hrs both of which are the best times to see the wildlife which would almost be invisible during Noon time. It has a good number of Flora and Fauna including some Spotted Deers and peacocks. No visitor is allowed to stay inside the forest during night. The sanctuary remains open on Saturday, Sunday also but not on national holidays. Since this is a Reserve Forest, you have to give application/request letter to Conservator of Forests & Chief Wildlife Warden, U.T. Chandigarh(Paryawaran bhawan,2nd floor,sector 19-B)for seeking entry permit, which is not a big deal.Your application should contain following information:-Place to be visited i.e. Nepli.Number of persons in your group.(max 20 in an application)Mode of journey.Registered number of vehicles. (Max 5-6)Date and time of the visit.Full address and telephone number of the applicant.

Nepli Forest Reserve is a part of Sukhna Wildife Sanctuary; it is a hilly forested area of the Shivaliks. The route to Nepli is via ‘Saketri’ village of Haryana which is not far from the Sukhna Lake end. This is a Nature Trek Spot and the view you get to see are good, in all there are 4 nature trails ranging from 6 to 8 km in length. 12 traditional watchtowers & signages camouflaging the forests are constructed along the nature trails one can get wide view of Shivalik hills. Nepli Inspection hut, a Rest House is another attraction which provides some refreshments to the visitors. Since its a natural trail you can take and you should take eatables inside the sanctuary because enroute you will not find aything to eat or drink.One can visit this forest from sunrise to sunset, both of which are the best times to see the wildlife which would almost be invisible during Noon time. It has a good number of Flora and Fauna including 150 varieties of bird and mamamls like Sambar, Spotted Deer (Chittal), Pangolin (ant eater), Wild boar, Jackal, Small Indian Civet, Jungle Cat, Porcupine, Hanuman Langur, Rhesus Monkey, Indian Hare, Common-Mongoose, Squirrel etc. No visitor is allowed to stay inside the forest during night.
