I visited La Iglesia de San Francisco as the town of Antigua was getting ready to celebrate their Easter or "semana Santa" week which is famously known. The Church is beautiful, great representation of the Spanish Colonial times. The images of the saints, Jesus and Mary are beautiful detailed. During my visit I could see that they had in front of some of the altars the typical decorations they use to decorate the streets of Antigua during Easter celebration which consists of different colored sand in patterns that looks like a carpet adorned with fruits. I am not sure the meaning of it but I am sure it has to have some meaning. It looks to me like the result of the blend of Catholicism with Mayan believes. It is beautiful, worth the visit!

I don't know...very nice church and nice place to have a great concentration. Never mind your religion but God is God and you will defnitely have the peace here....you must visit this Churh....

Great Catholic Church, beautiful cathedral. Has a black Jesus that Pope John Paul visited. Across the Central Parque and the National Palace. Be careful as there are many pickpockets in the area.

Always wonder how much good the $ would have done for the people instead of for the fancy church. That being said, folks were there praying...

Its a lovely church and for a small entrance you can walk around and photograph the ruins. A must see for the tourist in Antigua!

Es una de las más bellas iglesias del centro histórico, Recomiendo visitarla en la mañana y en domingo, pues entre semana sobre todo por la noche esta muy solo y es peligroso. A las autoridades de dicha iglesia se les pediría que puedan habilitar recorridos guiados por la Cúpula, pues, para el que no sabe, es muy bello subir, y la vista desde ahí es muy hermosa e in-comprable. Deberían arreglar las gradas del campanario, ya arriba, es completamente seguro visitarlo, pero deben explotar este atractivo que muchos desconocen o que no esta disponible muchas veces. Lo sé pues estuve en un grupo religioso ahí y cuando estuve subimos un par de veces a la cúpula.

Mi trovavo in zona e mi son fermato per la visita, una chiesa senza molte pretese, comunque meritava la visita . Buoni i colori all'interno.

A Iglesia de San Francisco foi uma vista especial. Momento de orações e contemplação. Igreja conservada e muito bonita.

San Francisco es la iglesia que se encuentra en pleno centro histórico de la ciudad de Guatemala en la 6a avenida y 13 calle de la zona 1, tiene un gran cúpula, imageneria antigua, salen procesiones para Cuaresma y Semana Santa, sin faltar los Rezados de la Virgen de Concepción y de Los Pobres. La imagen de la Virgen de Concepción fue obsequio del Rey de España Carlos V

a construção em sí é bem chamativa, muito bem iluminada e muito grande. fica próximo ao palácio do governo. vale a pena, porém é um pouco perigoso o local.
