Just went in a car all over the city to have a look. We found it ok. Do not think of it as a tourist place if you have less time, skip it.

It is one of the best street it has historical munumets, the oldest generations called it Little Paris. Each monument has his onw history. Like the monument of Jose Maria Reina Barrios, who is siting on a horse. He was a dictator and it was his idea abut making this street,it was a homage to the revolution in 1871. Reforms means to reform ( to change ) He also wanted this street to look European. This all street had Nacional and Internacional heros, from differents parts of the world Like France Mexico,Brazil, chile..And locals like our beloved Nobel price winer 1967 Migel Angel Asturias.. This place is nice to vicit on Sundays by foot to a apriciate the beauty of it.There is also a a statue of a lion with wings in honor of the frienship tha Guatemala has with Italy.

While staying at the Barcelo on our way back from Antigua we had time to kill early Sunday morning before our flight home so we decided to take a walk down Reforma to see the Israeli monument. We soon noticed that the entire avenue was closed to street traffic and we were joined by some runners, walkers, and families with young children on bikes and skates. Before we knew it the running crowd grew and we realized that a race was being held on the street. Even in the early hours (8am) the entire avenue was lined with pleasant civil service/ police attendants every block or so, making this a very safe place to enjoy the city like a local.

Close to all the major hotels, Avenida La Reforma is a great place for a daytime stroll or a jog along it's pedestrian path. Your worries about Guatemala City's reputation as a dangerous and/or unpleasant city will be squashed after a few minutes on this street.

Avenida La Reforma is a nice place to visit and to walk. During the day is secured and not so much at night. You might do the whole walk in one hour. There are plenty of restaurants, stores, places to visit during the walk. Normally on Sundays the road will be blocked for vehicles and then is packed with pedestrians and their dogs, and their friends, and their families.

Constructed just after World War II, Avenida La Reforma is Guatemala City's widest and most well-laid-out street. But it's most definitely not wide enough for today's city traffic, nor was it planned to handle the more than a million automobiles that try to negotiate G. C. traffic daily.

This avenue has 130 years of living history. There are a lot of monuments, gardens, historical buldings, all examples of architecture, etc. It is fully appreciated if you get information of its hystory. Sunday mornings are best to be walked, since it becomes a walking avenue. Lots of restaurants for eat and rest along the way. You can park your car at any Mall or Hotel on its suroundings.
