A place worth to visit. The Basilica it's just great, such as the market (on december) It's a small place, my boyfriend and I walked across all the town in a couple of hours. We didn´t find a good place to stay so we just stayed one night and continued our trip.

This place is well off the tourist trail . Worth it though to visit the Basilica and markets . We hired a Tuk Tuk driver who showed us the whole town ! He was amazing -called Kevin -and nothing was too much trouble for him . the only decent place to stay here is El Gran Chorti which is a few minutes out of town and has a great swimming pool and delightful staff .

Escuipulas is nestled in the mountains of Guatemala next to the El Salvador border just of the highway between El Salvador and Honduras. The basilica is very beautiful and features a unique black Christ behind the altar. The market place is basically next to the cathedral. There are no restaurants listed in Tripadvisor, but we ate at a place called Restaurante Santa Fe. Seven of us ate full meals with drinks for $63.00. The food was very good featuring beef, pork, chicken and seafood. I would not make a special trip to Esquipulas by itself, but it is a place to stop if you are near by.

A unique town featuring the Basilica and the black Christ within. The basilica is worth the visit as well as the market next door. It is a bit of a drive from Guatemala City, but you can easily make it a two for one trip with a stop at Copan, only an hour and a half away.

Es un pueblo pequeño en Chiquimula pero con un comercio muy buscado por el tema religioso y por ser sede de la Capital centroamericana de la Fe y la Basílica de Esquipulas, vale la pena visitar, con clima templado y lugares increíbles por visitar como el zoológico o las cuevas de las minas, como la hacienda de don Nicolás o la piedra de los compadres, visita el municipio, te encantara

Fui a Esquipulas a un congreso en el Hotel Payaqui frente al parque a un lado de la Iglesia.Aunque mi viaje no era con fines Religiosos , estando en Esquipulas la visita a la iglesia era Obligada , era sábado , la iglesia con 400 años de antigüedad muy Bonita , nos dispusimos a hacer la cola de 30-40 minutos para visitar al Cristo Negro señor de Esquipulas , Pero al estar frente a la imagen no puedes dejar de sentir la Espiritualidad del Lugar , el pueblo pequeño clima fresco , la oferta hotelera abundante para todos los bolsillos pero basta , para hacer visita de dia.

Visité y conozco Esquipulas que cuenta con una maravillosa historia como Destino Religioso de mas de 400 años y posee ademas una serie de atractivos naturales y culturales muy cercanos al caso urbano.

naci y creci en Esquipulas, la dejé por alcanzar mis sueños e ideales pero vuelvo con ilusión para aprovechar su cima templado, sus montañas de cafetos en flor y la alegria de sus distintas ferias durante todo el año, inolvidables los l5 de enero y los 9 de marzo dia del cumpleaños de la imagen de su Señor de Esquipulas, verdadera fuente de vida para los esquipultecos,.
