I think this is my favorite exterior of all the churches/basilicas in Venice...and often a string quartet will be playing Vivaldi one the pavement near the water in the fine weather. Just sit on the steps and take it all in!

This was a spectacular building right by the canal and well worth a visit to look up at the huge dome. Organ music playing when we were there which was very moving.

It is the most prominent of the buildings along the canal front it is a must. Beautiful, not busy and stunning outside and inside

Loved this beautiful church with unique interior and set up. The most impressive part is the exterior with many beautiful sculptures that can be observed passing by on the canal. It's also in a great location for panoramic pictures at the edge of the island.

The most beautiful place in the city. Great inside but absolutely stunning looking from the outside across the lagoon. Highlight of our holiday.

As churches go, I've seen more impressive. But if your a church fan and walking by, take a look.I didn't go in immediately as there was a begger lurking in the entrance, eventually we had to walk past hime.

From Campiello Traghetto beside the Gritti Palace, use the traghetto to get to Campo del Traghetto – Calle Lanza in Dorsoduro. From there it is a short walk to Santa Maria della Salute. The traghetto experience in itself is worth it, if you haven't had a chance to see the Grand Canal from the water level.

We stopped here to have a look inside due to other people suggesting it as a must see. It is open from 9-12 and 3-6. Be aware of bums on the door acting like you have to pay to get in: IT IS FREE. The church has signs telling you this but the people on the door intimidate you a little because in England we expect to pay to see a church as awesome as this one. Once you get in there is box where you can put your donation. It is also worth going into the crypt. You pay 3 euros but it is worth walking in and seeing the paintings on the ceilings. Note - there are no bathroom facilities near the Church and the museums will not allow you to use theres unless you are coming in to their attraction. The closest bathroom is Acamadie bridge and it cost $1.50 per person. You can stop at little pub (corner pub) which is on route to academie and have a coffee and a bathroom break! (great little pub too!)

I didn't get to visit this church during our first visit to Venice so it was top of my list for this timeIt's location at the entrance of the Grand Canal is one of the best landmarks in Venice and makes for a stunning backdropThe exterior of the church is simply stunning however, the interior is slightly more sober in comparison, but is a must see - if only for the works by Titian on the ceiling
