It made all the difference to be able to see wildlife while only seeing one other car, rather than the dozens that congregate on the roads when exciting things happen at the national park. Every hour we found something incredible, and were able to be right there - sometimes only 5-10 feet away. The conservancies are eco-friendly and support the local Masai communities, while being very affordable for low-cost travelers.

We were in the reserve as part of a three-day package. It allowed us to enjoy open vehicles (verrrry important), top guides, but access to the adjacent Amboseli NP. The reserve (in July) is dry, savannah woodland, and was filled with game and sightings. Our top guide/tracker team, Wilson / Melita, read every sign, track, and call. Being private, the reserve offers escape from East Africa's legendary crowding. Selenkay is also next to several Masai villages, one of which welcomed us in.We could not have been happier.

If you have never felt the excitement of the wild in the care of some beautiful African Masai people, this is the time to think about putting Porini Salankay on your list of 'to do' next holiday. We loved our second visit to the camp when we saw a pride of lion at sunset, of elephants, buffaloes, Eland and gerenuk, zebras and Thomson and grant gazelles to name a few. Loved every minute of the days. Shared many stories with the local people and rekindle with the village people. We felt safe and secured in our environment and ready to take off again soon.

This is my favourite Porini Camp. If you want a real bush experience then this is the place to go. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, the tents are spacious and comfortable and the food is delicious. The variety of game on view is fantastic and the drivers and guide spotters have an abundance of knowledge to share. You must go!!

We loved our visit to the Masai Village in this conservancy. The giraffes were also a highlight for us!
