Nothing epitomises a beach holiday destination quite like Watamu.If you want a quiet,peaceful and relaxed holiday on the Kenyan coastline then Watamu is it.

Spent a day here walking the beach, swimming and then a two hour snorkel trip. It was all very nice, but to be honest, I was a bit underwhelmed as I was expecting perhaps a more spectacular beach setting. It was nice for sure, but the random layout of the various hotels and beach cafes and the such left a bit to my mind to be desired.The islands and all were pretty with the little tidal pools and various forms of sea life and it was fun watching the close onshore fisherman come in with their various catches. I really enjoyed an older gentlemen digging long beach worms that he then sold for bait.Lunch in a local fisherman's restaurant was OK, nothing special and had octopus and while so fresh, it was a tough chew and was like a rubber reflex.Coming to Watamu Beach and its environs was something I am glad I did, and it really made me appreciate the Malindi beach area and the surroundings there all the more.But for sure if in the area, I would venture to the Watamu area again.

beautiful sea and white sand. Clear water. Shade and sun beds at Giorgio's and Safari's seaside resort. They prepared for us excellent and inexpensive grilled fish and lobsters.If you need a place to stay look for the nearby Kira's House

Watamu had the finest beaches in kenya, the sand is white and the water is crystal clear. Not populated and the tour guide are very friendly and helpful. If you love the ocean this is were you belong.

Scenic and dramatic setting. Plenty of places to rent sunbeds and have lunch or drinks. Go north near the end of the tarmac road then cut through and find this beach. Lounge around in the shallow waters.
