I married a couple on the boat dock! What an interesting place for a wedding, but great memories for the couple.

We've been many times this year. It's a great place to swim, hammock, canoes, hike. Water has been very clear this year. It's so close to Towm, that we have gone a few times during lunch hour and brought a picnic. The concession stand sells some basic foods and treats. Nothing gourmet, buy good for a quick grab.The restroom and showers are clean, so is the grassy beach. One of my many favorite places.

Lake Wedington is very close to the city of Fayetteville. I usually take my family for a cook out and fun over the weekend. The park is very clean with lots of tables and several play grounds. There is a kayak renting facility at the lake. Overall a very nice lake to go to!

We were sitting around our camp fire visiting quietly and the ranger kept coming up to us and reminding us it was quiet time and trying to find anything to give us violations on... silly stuff! One thing he mentioned was parking 3inches too far into an area! REALLY!? The bathrooms are not lit up and very dangerous to get to at night! We fell many times! Very unsafe and NOT handicap accessible by the way. The ranger came up to us was mad and put his finger in my brothers face told him to shut up sit down and that he was stupid! That was very wrong! He ended up callin the cops and made us leave in the middle of the night! We had 2 campsites for 2 nights. So we lost $40 this weekend over the crabby old man. The people camped across from us got ran ofd on Friday night and they had 2 sites as well and lost $40 well. But wedington made money off them because they put new campers there on Saturday so they just wanting to take peoplepeople's money. They won't get anymore of our money again!

Lake Wedington offers something for everyone if you enjoy the outdoors. Swimming, hiking, fishing, and camping are among the most prevalent activities. The boat ramp and recreation areas are easily accessible. The campground or cabins offer a couple of great options if you want to extend your stay. Highly recommend this as an way to get to place to spend a relaxing weekend.

I agree with an earlier post. Lake Wedington is great but the Rangers are terrible! They run it like it is privately owned and not a public park.

The campsites themselves are great and clean. Some are right at the water and very beautiful. There are quite a few easily accessible trails to walk. The host, however, ruined our stay. We read the rules very carefully before coming. Soon after arriving the host walks over to welcome us and immediately tells us that we were not allowed to have alcohol (this is nowhere in the rules at the site or online). We say okay while noticing that campers around us are also drinking alcohol. Later we want to set up a black light against a white sheet (a very common way of attracting insects to observe - we're all bug nerds). She says okay then a few minutes later sends over a man to question us about what we're doing. I call a colleague to have him send an image of our permit that covers the entire Ozark National Forest. He says "forget about it" and walks away on the phone. Less than 10 minutes later two people in a forest service vehicle pull up with their hazards on. They say that they were called about people catching animals with nets. We did not have nets at all. We show them the permit and try to explain that attracting insects to light will not harm anyone or anything. We were then accused of having an old permit and trying to do illegal things. We were also threatened with being ticketed. Spent a good 20 minutes being interrogated about things we were not even doing. Spent the rest of the night looking over our shoulders waiting for the hosts to come and tell us what else we were doing wrong. Keep in mind: 'no alcohol' is NOT on the rules. The National Forests are set aside for recreational activities (such as observing insect behavior). We had a permit that is good until September of 2015.I have NEVER had this terrible of an experience in my years of camping and I will never come back. Save yourself the hassle and go camp for FREE almost anywhere you'd like on National Forest land (that's what it's there for).

Great place to unwind close to the University. The swimming is great for a family and the area offers a lot of fun for kids of all ages.

We camped at Lake Fayetteville recently, and liked it so much that we came back the very next weekend. There is something about the camping area (huge pines maybe?) that keeps the temperatures 5-10 degrees lower than the surrounding area. This is a really nice tent camping spot. There is no electricity, but they do have running water near the restrooms, and decent bathroom & shower facilities, with a dumpster nearby. The camp sites themselves have nice tent pads, although it appears that they are not consistent in size from site to site. Some look like they would accommodate a huge 10-person tent, while others can't handle much more than a big 4-person tent. Each site has a fire ring, with a grill above it, lantern post, picnic table, tent pad, and a standalone grill. There is also a camp host trailer, where they will sell you firewood ($10 for a bucket or $20 unlimited). Some sites are lakeside, with the capability to fish right from your campsite. There are bluegill, crappie, catfish, and largemouth bass here to be caught. This is also the home of the record grass carp, which was over 80 pounds. There is a nice feeling of security at this campsite as well. We have seen the Sheriff come through often enough to feel plenty safe. Over at the main lake area, there is a concession stand, some sand volleyball courts, swimming area, and pavilions to be rented out. They also offer cabins, although I haven't seen those personally. You can also rent kayaks or paddle boats if you want to tool around on the water. This is a no-wake lake, so you won't have to bother with big engines churning up wakes. There are also some hiking trails, which we haven't tried yet. We definitely haven't made our last trip here.

Unless you want to pay $5 to hike at Lake Wedington, simply park across the hwy at the Ozark National Forest and hike for free...very rustic, grown up trail with lots of ticks, bugs, and wildlife...but if that's your cup of tea- go for it! My three sons loved it (ages 10, 7, and 6). Some steep places, but no dangerous drop offs of any sort. Woods change dramatically form pine to oak- shady, dark and cool. Saw only one campsite along the way and ZERO other hikers- very secluded and quiet and only 30 minutes outside of Fayetteville (pop. 75,000)
