The HMA is a state of the art modern facility definitely worth visiting. We came to see their Rembrandt, Reubens Golden Age of Europe exhibit and were pleasantly surprised to find how many pieces were in the collection in addition to its diverse number of artists. Hello, we saw a real Rembrandt! While this exhibit seems to be the focal point now the Museum also features additional exhibits that proved interesting as well. We were not able to take a docent tour, but my friend has taken one and said she enjoyed her docent. Afterward, we got a bite to eat at the museum restaurant which is on the lower level overlooking a scenic pond and park. Food was Italian and very good.

The museum is small, but oh the gems on display! We were fortunate enough to visit when the Grandma Moses exhibit and the Betty Grishman Collection of Buccellati Silver Animals were on display. All beautifully displayed and expertly lit so you could see every detail.One floor for the museum; the basement/lower level contains classrooms and a bar/restaurant (see separate review for Pane e Vino).The hallway on the lower level was lined with art from local grade school and middle school aged artists - how fabulous! A nice touch more museums should adopt as it engages young artists early and showcases their work - bravo!

We recently went to the Drop In and Create event while the Grandma Moses exhibit was there. My girls (ages 8 and 10) really enjoyed it. I love that the museum is in the middle of Big Spring Park. During the holiday season you can see Tinsel Trail or have a picnic and feed the ducks during the spring and summer after looking at the art.

This is a lovely art museum. They get wonderful traveling exhibitions. They also have some great permanent collections. This museum holds the world's largest collection of Buccellati silver pieces with large animal sculptures made of fine silver. A nice coffee shop in the basement of the museum. The museum is on the land at Big Springs Park.

Very well done! I was very impressed with the quality of displays, lighting, etc.. Huntsville is lucky to have this museum here!

For a mid-size Southern city, Huntsville has a respectable art community. The Huntsville Museum of Art contains a core of quite respectable permanent exhibits. The temporary "on loan" exhibitions are very nice. This is well worth a visit for the out of town guest who thinks he/she has landed in a technology only kind of town.

This is a beautiful facility in a lovely park setting. Parking was readily available. Only the first floor had exhibits which made for a somewhat quick tour. The Red Clay Survey exhibit of contemporary Southern art was interesting and nicely done. The Stained Glass exhibit of local artists was small. The visit to the Ginny Ruffner Aesthetic Engineering exhibit made the whole trip worthwhile. It was fantastic! Her imagination with colors and glass is amazing. Awe inspiring!

Visited today with family, very impressive exhibit just opened today. Very large and gorgeous glass and metal works of art; visited two months ago and was surprised that the exhibit space was so small at that time. Now I realize that much of the exhibit space was closed then to set up for the new exhibit. Very much worth the trip!

The Huntsville art Museum is good for a small city, it will take 1-2 hours to go through the Museum. They have a interesting glass collections

Both the permanent and traveling exhibitions are interesting and memorable. The building offers well laid out exhibits, large areas for receptions, a nice gift shop, water and park views and a nice restaurant with pretty views. Lots of community involvement helps bring some really good traveling exhibits and local residents have provided some beautiful works on loan.
