Very nice company. We originally wanted kayaks but ended up with canoes due to the water level. They took us to the drop off point and then picked us up at the rendevous on time. Detailed maps explaining trouble areas to avoid. Great trip!

August is not the best month for canoeing, however my family had so much fun. There were some areas with rocks and trees because water level was low so we had to get off and pull the canoe. We definitely would go back when the water level is higher like April and May. We paid $45 for a canoe. I thought it was pretty good.

We went for a family canoe trip ( drop off is not far from the outfitter ). It was nice and relaxing with few challenges along the way. Rented 2 canoes, we walked around 1st challenge as we don't have any experience. First challenge is probably 3-4 rocks high. DH got knocked out from canoe on another challenge - strong stream under the tree but actually liked it :) and so did the kids.Service was very friendly.Stayed previous night in Strasburg, Va so it took us little under 2 hours to get to the place in the morning. I believe 6 miles took us about 4 hours. We stopped for gas and fresh market along the route.

We did a trip from smoke hole to fisher park. Overall it was a great time but had some annoyances.The bad:-Driver smoked in the van on the way to the drop off.-the canoe had about 4 patches big patches in it and didn't track correctly.- the campground has showers but no hot water. It is ice cold.-the price for the canoe rental portion is a little steep for the busted up canoes.-with a little canoe experience there is no reason to walk the places on the map. The difficulty is overexaggerated on the maps.The good:-Great scenery-camp sites are cheap and right along the water.-staff was nice

The day started with a sign in and basic instruction at the Eagle's Nest office. After a short ride we were dropped at the river with our rented kayaks and were pointed in the right direction. The tempature was 96 and the river was so low in spots that we had to walk the kayaks. Even so, we enjoyed every bit of our day. We watched for the landmarks on the map we were given, admired the cliffs and the wildflowers and jumped into the water to cool off. When we were done we called the outfitter to get us. he was there within a matter of minutes. This is a well run operation with a friendly staff. We will visit again next time we are in the area.
