Got to watch as the ceramic artists installed their pieces among the plants. Gorgeous and interesting work. Some looked like they were sprouting from the ground. Unbelievable hand built huge vessels were mesmerizing in the meticulous design. What a terrific place to have an art show. It felt so good to be there among the plants and art. I missed the concert that was happening later.

Whether you just need to see some gorgeous color on a cold day, or you are looking for a great place to bring your family, you've found it at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center. The greenhouses offer a stunning array of tropical plants, and the exterior gardens can spark your imagination for your own garden. If you work in the Providence area, bring your lunch and spend a quiet hour sitting on a bench drinking in the warmth and color. Families can take advantage of children's programs or just wander through on their own. The koi pond and carnivorous plant bog are a hit with kids. There's plenty for the adults to enjoy, as well, and the University of Rhode Island Master Gardeners have scheduled lectures for those interested in learning more about what's in the Botanical Center or gardening in general. An oasis of Tropical Beauty, year round, in the greenhouses, and a delight for the senses, in warmer weather! Perennial Gardens that offer change from spring thru fall, walkways thru the gardens, extensive collection of trees and bushes from around the world. Go to the website to see the numerous events that take place at the Botanical Center year-round: classes and workshops open to the public, family events, indoor Sunday concerts offered thru the year by the Botanical Center Conservancy of Roger Williams Park. Many events offered by volunteers of the URI Master Gardeners and URI Outreach (workshops as well). Bring a sandwich, and picnic inside or out. Holiday Events, Spring Fairy Festival, day camps during the summer. A terrific suggestion for a wedding venue. You need to check it out. You'll be delighted!
