I go to the Fort every weekend to walk. I usually have my dog with me- it's one of his favorit places. The tree lined avenues, the untouched, natural areas, the shoreline and the historical buildings make it a tranquil spot. Just watch out for those who do not follow the law and let their dogs roam around without being leashed.

What a wonderful piece of preserved history. The Park is gorgeous, well maintained and the staff was very helpful, engaging and educational. We took our time, took tons of pictures and really, really enjoyed this location.

FNSP is located on the absolute northwest corner of the State of New York. It's scenery looking 25 nautical miles across Lake Ontario from it's shoreline is spectacular as Toronto can be seen on most clear days and nights. They have a spectacular pool and the tourist attraction of www.oldfortniagara.org is a real benefit to visiting the area. The area is steeped in history and it also has very cool, new, state-of-the-art things to do within walking distance... if you come here check out Youngstown Harbor and www.niagarajet.com the absolute must thing to do when you come to Niagara Falls, NY, or Canada for that matter.

This fort is beautiful and serene. It's easy to imagine life back then. There are costumed docents around to help you immerse yourself in the history. Outside the fort in the park is also a place to visit. My family likes to walk down the hill to the waters edge and search for sea glass. We live close by and still love to visit each year. Each season has its special charm.

We went to visit the lighthouse but just missed closing time. There is a very nice gift shop and there is a tour you can purchase for Old Fort Niagara but we didn't take the tour. The park has a swimming pool which my children insisted on going in even though it was freezing. Nice view of the lake.

If you love history, the fort is really interesting. The park is enormous, so pack a picnic and frisbee. You can find a spot on the lake and look over at Canada. Watch your phone for roaming charges!

What a great little park to hang out. Walk the gravel beach looking for cool driftwood and sea glass...sit at a picnic bench and look out at Toronto on a clear day. They have playgrounds for kids, big sprawling grass areas and shady woods....

This is only a partial review as we didn't have time to explore the fort, which is, of course, the key attraction of this park. We drove by it, admired its scope, condition, and location, but previous to that, enjoyed a picnic on the grassy slope overlooking Lake Ontario. This is a splendid park that is maintained to perfection. It has picnic tables and standard park amenities, but when we were there, things were mighty quiet, and we essentially had the whole area to ourselves. Memorably beautiful! (no fee when we were there)

Fort Niagara State Park is located at the mouth of the Niagara River about a thirty-five minute drive from Niagara Falls and just across the river from its Canadian counterpart, Fort George in Niagara on the Lakes, Canada. The park is somewhat of a living museum. The hourly tours are divided into three parts. The first part is focused on the History of the park and all of the events that took place there. The most impressive display would have to be the huge flag that the first American Flag was derived from. The second part of the tour focusses on the architecture of the Fort and all of the different countries’ influences. It is quite informative. The third part of the tour allows you to roam freely throughout the grounds and partake in demonstrations by the firing squad, the fife and drum team and the cannon battery as well as the blacksmith. This is a great way to spend a few hours in the morning before heading out into the wine country. I would recommend the park to anyone headed to the Niagara Falls area!
