Breitbeck is a beautiful park on the shore of Lake Ontario. Walking paths, playground, benches to relax on, many photo opp areas, open areas to play frisbee, picnic tables, grills, bathrooms. Great place to relax, read a book and watch the sunset.

Breitbeck Park is a great park in ANY city...but in a town with a Lake, it's the VIEW you want! During the sailing season, you can catch great boats on the lake, photo opportunities abound! Walks??? Oh mann, lots of great places to walk, along the shoreline, and within the park itself...Harborfest anyone...once a year for four days, Breitbeck Park is the hub of activities. Made special by the Fireworks Display by the Grucci Brothers of Statue of Liberty fame...and many more (!). For locals, this is the place to go for a family party (has an outdoor pavillion with bathrooms and even a soda machine...basketball courts, and lots and lots, and lots, and lots of GRASS and trees. Wednesdays during the summer, the city brings a band shell, and the community band plays for locals and visitors alike. A great old fashioned entertainment with some pretty nice tunes against a backdrop of the sunset (at least by early August!). Many cities would envy us our Breitbeck Park...but also our great great Lake! :0)My visit has been all the choices below! Couple/Family with Young Child/Pets/family, friends/even business...and solo...

Breitbeck Park is a really unusual and beautiful area that hugs the coastline of Lake Ontario in Oswego. There are a lot of open grounds for doing almost anything you'd want to do outdoors, including just sit and look at the sailboats out on the lake. (Then again, there are a lot of benches along the walkways for doing that too.)Of special interest here is the very long pier that winds its way out to the lighthouse on the lake. I'm not sure whether you can still walk all the way out there, but it is tremendously scenic and beautiful The park also features at least two large bandstands, for any of a number of performances and musical reviews.There is a lot more to say about this beautiful place, but I'll let my photographs do this for me once this is published on the website. It is a wonderful place to visit in the summer, and I highly recommend it.
