The 3-mile loop behind the Visitor Center was beautiful on Valentine's Day! My Valentine and I hiked the very scenic trail and were treated to good views of the Tennessee River. Also, there were many colorful, interesting rocks along the trail. Best of all was the bright, green moss that covered the trail over much of its length. We took several pictures of this winding effervescent green trail winding up and down the hills. Lastly, the trails all had been blown clean of all leaves and debris by the Park Staff....easy, safe walking! A great little Tennessee jewel!

The lake did not look good and it was low. not happy with the visit. It was hardly anyone there . There was not much to do there at all but go for a walk with our dog. The lake was very low and not pretty at all.

We spent the weekend at Mousetail and loved it! We camped in primitive spot #1 and after riding through the rest of the park decided it was the perfect site, prime real estate! We rode the mountain bike trail and loved the view from shelter 2 but the trails are poorly marked and the map brochure from the office is marked completelty opposite of what the trail is actually marked according to the large maps on the trail itself. The brochure map says that the yellow trail is advanced but actually the yellow is beginner. The green was advanced on the trail itself. It was confusing to try and figure out when it was poorly marked. The brochure needs to be corrected to keep people from possibly getting lost or injured by riding the advanced trail by accident. We were impressed by the number of porta potties and the cleanliness of the whole place. The ranger was present enough to feel safe but not intrusive. We enjoyed kayaking around the beautiful water there too. There were two air boats that put in late after dark that were TERRIBLY noisy and very bright lights. Not sure if that happens often but was annoying. Overall we love the place and look forward to going back again to fish and hike next time.

This was a beautiful park. Only one bathhouse located in the main camp area. Port-a-potties are located in the primitive camping area. The main campground sites 1-6 don't have electric or water. Sites 7 and 8 are handicapped sites and located on each side of the bathhouse. The site # is hard to see. There are 3 loops of sites in the main campground. Site #9 has a flower bed and sits on top of a hill that overlooks the woods and the highway and is the closest non-handicapped site to the bathhouse. The bathhouse also houses a laundromat. We stayed on Fathers' Day week-end and were the only campers in the middle loop. There was 1 camper in the first loop and a camper in the 3rd loop. That was it. The bathhouse was very clean. The water in the shower was hard to regulate. It was scalding hot or cold. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and well supplied. There was plenty of shade in both the main and primitive campgrounds. The main campground has water & Electrictiy (sites 7-25) and has a steep hill going into it and is located in the woods. No water views. The primitive sites are actually the prettiest. They don't have water or electric, though. The primitive sites have nicer picnic tables and grills. They are located right on the edge of the water. They are beautiful and quite and peaceful. The park office is located between the swimming/picnic area and the main campground. The rangers are very.friendly and helpful. They watch the park closely and make you feel safe and sound. We had a night time visitor, we think it was a coon? He knocked the lid off the trash can, got himself a snack, and left. There were NO mosquitos in this park. There were very few flies and a few more knats. We ate inside our camper because the picnic tables in the main campground are not very easy to sit at. The bench is too high and made out of a log that seeps sap and sticks to your pants. The table was concrete. We have a 21 ft. 5th wheel camper and the campsites accommodate campers this size and SMALLER but were designed I think for tents. A couple of sites in the 3rd loop would accommodate a little larger campers/RV's but the hill up to them is a force to be recconded with ! There was a camper up there that looked like it was about 26ft.? I did not see any big campers or Winnebagos at Mousetail Landing! They would not fit. There is a very nice screened-in pavilion, several playgrounds, boat launch area, swimming area, and a nice trail at this park. It's beautiful and we enjoyed the peacefulness of the area. We are planning on returning again next year.

We found this campground after our other reservations were canceled during the government shutdown of corp of engineers parks. We followed the campground website directions. (BIG MISTAKE). they directed us from Nashville onto 438, which was switch back 20 mph the entire way. We travel in a 40 ft. RV towing a jeep. We finally arrived with nerves tattered. Rangers were wonderful, friendly and very helpful. We had one last feet though. We had to climb a 5% grade hill in the RV to get to our site. The sites were small, and did not have access to the river or any waterway. Campers had to drive to the bath house because it was too far and at the bottom of the hill. Don't go there in a big RV. Take your tent !!

We stopped in the visitors center and visited with the ranger and receptionist, got our Tennessee Passport stamped, drove around a bit and that was all. Too cold to get out and enjoy the park.We did take time to look over and read the information on the displays. That was interesting. When we're back in the area we will be more thorough.

Just recently discovered this state park which is fairly close to our house. We loved it. My wife and 3 kids love hiking, and this has our favorite hiking trail to date. The view of the Tennessee River is great and the staff is very friendly. We will be visiting here often.

This is one of the best state parks I have ever been to. Clean and well stocked restrooms excellent amenities for fishing, swimming, jungle gyms, pavillions and friendly rangers. Primitive campsites looked great and you can't find a better location right on TN River in middle TN. Worth a drive if not local or a stop on a road trip.

It is so beautiful, peaceful, great place to take a dip in the river and cool off, enjoy free concerts, events, play baseball, volleyball, and just sit in the moonlight and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of it all.

I just wanted to say that this is a beautiful state park for camping. This past weekend we took a group of teenagers from our church camping. We stayed at the "boy scout" camp site as it was more isolated so our late night games and chatting would not disturb other campers. There is no electricity or water at this particular site, but we did come prepared. The price can't be beat. It was 50 cents per head per night. We took a hike to a "shelter" which overlooked the TN river. It was a beautiful view! The screened in shelter also looked like a place that my husband and I want to hike to and stay at a later date. There is one set of restrooms & a laundry facility that I saw in the park. The bathrooms were very clean, and they are heated and cooled. Overall a great place to camp!
