They had a Cupcake and wine pairing that was delicious. Their tasting room was spacious yet had intimate settings all around with an indoor and outdoor fireplace. They host weddings there all summer long and the grounds were well landscaped with some vine plantings for character and maybe some wine grapes when they mature.

Our wine club, 11 strong, visited Jasper Winery on a week-day. We came shortly after they opened for the day so had the place to ourselves. Katie, the Tasting Room Manager, made us feel right at home and did an excellent tasting. Prices for the tastings ($10 for a VIP tasting and tour; $5 for the 1/2 tasting and tour) are well worth paying. We tasted 5 delicious varieties, saw the room where they were getting to ready to bottle some white wine and heard about the businesses vineyards which are located in Newton, IA (Jasper County, thus the name). There are a few wine-themed gifts/books for sale but for the most part this is a real winery, not a gift shop. They have events on week-ends and host a lot of parties, weddings etc. in their large reception area. We all came away with wine to take home and enjoyed this winery a great deal.

I was so impressed with the live music, wine, food and families the other night at the winery. What a fun crowd, kids able to run and play without much restraint all to live music; nirvana!

OK, the wine is very good. The sangria top notch. But how about renting the place? Take a tour and believe everything Katie tells you about their services, because it is more than true. Trust their suggested service providers. If you need a buffet... go for the barrel room. We had a rehearsal dinner there and could not have been happier. It is a superb addition to the options in Des Moines. We had guests from all over the country... and they were very impressed!

Even in the big city of Des Moines we found Jasper Winery.Located very close to the airport.I thought this winery seemed to be more up scale and indrustral being in the city. yet prices were very reasonable and the wines just as good as those out in the count setting.The staff was very pleasant.Music by local artists is also played on some days.

This is a very nice facility. When we arrived, there was a wedding party there and another larger group of women. All were enjoying wine. We purchase these wines at our local wine and spirits outlet, so are familar with them. There are a number that we really enyoy. One especially is the "Bed Head Red" selection. We did the usual wine tasting and purchased several bottles to take home. We decided to have draft beers. I had a coffee stout that was pretty good. I think by wife had a hoppier selection that was pretty good as well. We sat on the outdoor patio area visiting with other patrons. It was a great time with nice beverages and coversations to go along with them!

One wintery Sunday afternoon a group of 9 of us took advantage of a Groupon 'deal' for Chocolate and Wine Tasting. It was a great event and would definitely do it again even without the deal! Have been buying JW ever since. And we'll be back this summer for music and wine on the lawn. Can't wait for summer!
