Located near Highway 20, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and Dubuque, the Manchester hatchery is an eye-opener for kids! Eggs are harvested and fertilized from huge trout and then raised as hatchlings indoors and outdoors until they are ready for stocking in trout streams in northeastern Iowa. I've taken classes here for outdoor education many times. The size these fish can attain will amaze you. Kids can get a Dixie cup of food to feed the fish which starts a feeding frenzy they will never forget. Parents and grandparents--this is a wonderful place for take youngsters.
