This is one of my all-time favorite art museums out there, and it amazes me that a relatively small facility could put together such high quality exhibitions. I've visited the Museum a number of times, and have never had a problem parking. The Museum presents an interesting contrast: It offers terrific contemporary art exhibitions in an old stone grist mill. There's usually three or four different exhibitions going on. I saw somebody complaining that there was nothing there, but they must have gone during a week when shows were changing. I've always checked online before driving over -- or calling -- just to be safe. I just saw the Clay Bestiary exhibition and it was astounding! It features a few world famous artists along with some new artists whose work I hope to see again. The Museum also has a bunch of great classes -- my daughter once took a class there a year ago -- and one of the prettiest views in all of New Jersey. My daughter loves drawing on the new chalkboard. The Mrs. and I like sipping coffee while watching her play.I've also eaten at several of the restaurants in town, and haven't had a bad meal anywhere. The Clinton House, the Fine Diner and the pizza place (sorry I'm blanking on the name) are all fantastic. Great subs there too. I think I gained 5 pounds thanks to that town!

Went there with a couple of friends, one who lives in town, and the other near me in Flemington. I have previously been to a couple of sites in town before, and I really enjoyed them. It was my first time to the art museum. First off, I had to park quite a distance away which wasn't a real big deal. I like to walk. I went there in the middle of the week and there was hardly anything worth looking at. The building itself is kind of cool. The one person I spoke to who works there, I believe that she was actually the manager or director, was very rude when I questioned her about the lack of displays, and what days do they actually put out displays. I hear from a few of the town residents that they were going to boycott the art museum because they failed to pay back a loan to the Town of Clinton in a timely manner, causing the Town of Clinton to sue them to recover their money. It also caused the property taxes for residents to go up. Anyway the art museum wasn't very interesting to either of us, and I personally won't go back.

this is a small but beautiful little museum next to a river and small falls. I have been here to see many shows especially the local artists. It is very nicely setup. I enjoy the smallness of it all.

We have lived in the ages for 20+ years, and have visted the Museum many times. Whenever friends come to visit from out of town, I love to bring them to this museum. It is not overwhelmingly large, and you can see all of the exhibits on offer within an hour, but I see this as plus for guests who are not huge art fanatics. And my friends who are artists or art teachers have been inspired by the exhibits which are unique and unexpected - at least unexpected for the little colonial hamlet of Clinton. The setting is absolutely wonderful - right on the river, overlooking a waterfall. A lovely afternoon is a visit to the museum and a cappuccino from one of the coffee shops in town. Other reviewers seem to think that art lovers will not find much on offer, and if you are looking for watercolors and landscapes, then those reviewers are probably right, but if you are open to a new experience in art or looking for something to make you think, I am absolutely confident you will not regret visiting this museum.

Being a town resident I actually do know what the "museum" is all about. I don't agree with some of the comments here and find them to be inaccurate (however they are entitled to their own opinion) Unfortunately it offers very little to true art lovers. Vague displays and almost bare walls on most days. Once in a while they exhibit a local artist. They have a wall outside that they painted black, so it became a giant blackboard where you can post anything you want in chalk. It looks like nothing more then graffiti, and is an eyesore.There is no parking available on site since the Art Museum had the parking spaces removed to make more room for their outdoor venues. The town itself is charming though.

This museum on the river above the falls is in a very old mill building. Admission is inexpensive (about $5) and it had three most interesting and beautiful special exhibits when we were there. It is a special place for art lovers.

This museum sits on the Raritan River in one of the most beautiful settings you can imagine. It is in an old stone mill that has been restored as a museum. Presently, there are 4 exhibits on 3 floors. One by Darren McManus is very colorful and special glasses allows you to see it in 3-D. Another is contemporary work by various artists using encaustics. Great black and white abstractions by Sky Pape. Exccellent art in an interesting setting. Michael at the desk was very helpful in providing us with information. Admission Is $5 for adults. The museum is part of the North American Reciprocal Museums (NARM) so membership in one of those museums allows for free admission. There is street parking around the town, near the museum, but is was a little tight on a Sunday.

We've visited this museum several times and it never fails to delight. No only does it focus on local or regional art be has some national traveling shows as well. I'm not one of the greatest fans of contemporary art, but exhibits at the Hunterdon always challenge the imagination. The presentations are always first rate. There is something about the contrast between stonewalls and contemporary art that adds to the ambiance. Anytime we're in the are in the area we will visit the Hunterdon Art Museum. And make a donation.

A fan of regional art museums, I relished our visit to an old stone mill, restored as a museum, in charming historic Clinton, a former mill town on the Raritan River. Exhibits change periodically, but the works of local artists are displayed on the third floor, where the current exhibit features the lovely paintings of two talented local women, Jean Steele Marsh & Katherine Trubek. After your visit, walk along the old iron bridge across the Raritan to the Red Mill Museum on the other side of the picturesque waterfalls.

Nice small museum in a charming old stone building on a river. Focus seems to be on modern art and craft. There's a good member's exhibit right now.Easy to find, 2 miles off Rt. 78. Limited on-street parking.
