The Gatchell Museum has great local history that you wont find anywhere else in Johnson County. They are always rotating exhibits so you see something new almost every time you visit!

A small well done museum located just up the street from the Occidental Hotel, it has interesting coverage of the Johnson County range war and artifacts from the Jim Gatchell (Indian) collection. Worth a visit. Be aware it closes early now that summer is over. We would have liked to stay longer.

This museum is much bigger inside than appears on the outside and gives the tourist a good picture of Northern Wyoming history, especially the Johnson County Cattle wars. Staff replied quickly to an extra request for research information. Gift shop has a lot of area interest books, gifts for children and fun items. Worth the stop in "Longmire" town

Since this is a small town, it does have alot of history about the surounding area, during the earlier years. Most of everything in the museum came from the Jim Gatchell family.

This is a serious museum for the avid researcher of the development of the West. A bit overwhelming in terms if detail and breadth of exhibits for the casual holiday visitor.

Staff were very friendly and loved to discuss the area's history. Displays were amazing especially the ones about the cattlemen wars and local tribes. We were impressed with the quality of this museum.

Learn the early Buffalo history. Lots of Native american artifacts. The early history of the cattle industry was well done.

Well laid out. $5 fee. I spent two hours enjoying the walk through the Earliest settlers, Tribal life, the encroachment of white civilization, the battle stories, early ranching, the Tom Horn story, Johnson county war, the story about Bomber Ridge, and the growth of Johnson County and the town of Buffalo.

This museum is a hidden jewel. it is much larger than it appears on the outside. It has tons of artifacts and describes the local history perfectly.
