Loved this place!!! There are many paths to select from - hard top for ease or off-the-path for the more adventureous. We spent 2 hours enjoying the fresh area and plant life this past weekend. We will return many more times when visiting Nac. Lots of bike riders and walkers too.

My DD took her easter picutres at the SFA arboretum and they were beautiful! of course she's the cutest little thing walking the earth but All the flowers and colors made for fantastic, natural scenery... Great for pictures or just to visit and look at the beauty of nature

the best time to go the gardens is around end of March when the azalea's are in bloom. They have every kind of azalea you could think of. It is a beautiful setting for taking pictures. We love to go and take our guest when they come

The tour of this garden was a continuation of our tour of the Ruby M. Mize Azalea Garden. The plants in this garden are just as interesting and beautiful as the Mize Azalea Garden. Walking through the garden encourages one to appreciate the work and expertise that goes into creating such an awe inspiring environment.

It was an "off" season when we went so at first it appeared dried up and dying, however when we got to the shady area, it was really nice. The little bridges and special areas are enchanting. Benches and swings are placed along the way so you can rest. Trees and bushes are labeled so you can identify what they are. We went early in the morning and there was a little breeze so we had a very nice walk. It was much bigger than I could walk, but I wish I could have seen more.

We were quite surprised at the size of the garden. When we first drove up it looked quite small but then it keeps going and going. Would love to see it in the spring and fall.

The Arboretum has a large variety of trees and shrubs that is contiguous with the Ruby Mize Azalea Garden. It is carefully maintained by the SFA Ag department. It is a delightfully restful place during all seasons of the year.

We didn't realize that the arboretum would be so extensive and chocked full of plants, but it was! We parked right up next to the path entrance on Wilson Drive, just across from the SFA campus. No entrance or parking fee. It was amazingly shady and cooler throughout the arboretum, so we actually got some heat relief for it to be in June! Our young girls went along with us and enjoyed it. The encased Honeybee hive and educational display was great, and quickly captured all of our attention. There are directions on how to open the bee hive display to view, and then close up when done. We saw so many varieties of plants, trees, herbs, and flowers that I couldn't keep count. Everything was marked well, though you may need to brush off fallen leaves or new growth to read fully. Alot of time and work has been put into developing and the upkeep of this place!! We spent about 1 hour, and along the way we could sit on benches or swings to relax. We met a sweet senior lady who had her rolling walker, in case there is question of the accessiblity. There are a few small steps and unlevel areas in some parts, but seems like there was enough level pathways as an alternate route to still get around and enjoy this place. Our girls loved the red metal flower art we saw, as well as the purple tire planters, where there is a variety of cooking herbs growing. Plenty of teaching moments for kids, like rosemary is "what we cook our chicken with sometimes"...or parsley. "Guess what this smell/plant is?" There was a very full fig tree ("yum, like what grandma makes her preserves out of"). A wooden bridge spans over the LaNana Creek, and lots of turtles to see below. The other side of the bridge is where the Azalea gardens can be found, but they bloom in spring so we'll look forward to that on a different trip :) So glad we went!

It's beautiful when the azaleas are blooming. The azalea gardens are quite extensive. Just a short walk over the bridge you can see many other varieties of plants. There are also various art sculptures in the gardens.

Local family members have been visiting the Arboretum for years. We have seen the beautiful pictures and heard all about their adventures. We took time to visit this trip and were so glad we did. It really is a gem for the community and college. Outstanding job to the planners and designers and maintenance. Lovely paths thru the pines, wonderful collection of plants, flowers, shrubs and trees. Bridges of various types through out property. Benches, swings, picnic tables for your use. Signage on the botanicals is good, though many were without. Plenty of shade and a great respite from the sun and heat! Must be 15 degrees cooler in there. Finding the different access points can be difficult. Parking is limited. We only saw one sign that provided entry info and parking near that entry is difficult. No restrooms. We had local family members show us actual parking areas and entry points. There are several entry points. Highly recommend. Very popular among college students, joggers, walkers, pet walkers.
