Love antiquing, and this was the perfect surprise trip my husband took me on for Valentine's Day. I've wanted to visit for a couple of years now, and finally made it! So much to look through! So many treasures! I even got to meet Mike Whiteside and Sally, so that definitely made my day!!

Totally enjoyable. So many things to look at and dream of what you would do with them. Allow yourself several hours. We didn't spend near as much time as I would have liked outside but was there over 2 hours.

Thank you very much for letting us know your thoughts and we are sorry that you were disappointed with your visit. We do like to let people know that there are two parts to our 40,000 sq ft warehouse here at Black Dog. The Marketplace and the Salvage side which besides half the warehouse includes the front porch, the front yard as well as the side and back yards. We now have a second location for our salvage located just over the bridge; our current location can no longer contain all our collection holds. If there is something someone is looking for specifically, we are happy to take them over to BDS2. The Marketplace does consist of booth spaces that we rent to local artists, artisans and collectors. While some think of us an "overnight success" due to the popularity of Salvage Dawgs, we have been in business for 15 years. During our early years those spaces kept the lights on here and we are fond of them.

Love the selections; but the prices are really high where most people can't afford their items. It's still interesting to look at their items.

If you like checking out vintage restorations and possible projects for your own home, this is by far the place to visit. We traveled from Colorado to visit my parents, so my husband wanted to take my dad here and check it out. We have watched Salvage Dawgs on DIY for the last few years and knew this shop would be a stop during this trip. They enjoyed it so much that my husband brought me here the next day. I only wished we lived closer, so I could own some of Black Dogs restoration projects. We had so much fun looking around and getting ideas for our own projects. My only sadness was that Sally, the black lab, was not around to visit with. Maybe next time!

My husband had a work function in Roanoke. I was so excited to have an excuse to travel to southwestern VA to visit Black Dog Salvage. I have seen the show on TV and really enjoy salvage shops. This store did not disappoint at all. The store is huge and so well organized. The staff were friendly and Sally. the black dogm really was wandering around. The store hosts many local vendors who sell new, antique and everything in between. There is also a large portion dedicated to salvage. The care and organization or the salvage is amazing. Everything is labeled and there is great signage. If you are at all interested in old things, repurpoosed items or salvage of any kind this store is well worth your time.

Nice, but it was customer appreciation day and very busy. Will go back on a week day when less crowed

. . . you have to come here. Our weekend getaway to Roanoke was a pilgrimage to Black Dog Salvage, and it was worth the trip. First of all, we like old things and architectural salvage . . . and we love their show Salvage Dawgs. It was a hoot roaming through their eclectic collection of salvaged stuff including doors, mantles, lamps, and door knobs. All kinds of interesting stuff. We were looking for an old shade for a lamp project. We were delighted to consult with Mike Whiteside, the “CEO”, who could not have been nicer. In addition to the salvage collection, there is also the Memorial Bridge Marketplace with more than 30 vendors offering antique or craft items. We bought some cards from Appalachia Press and some beautiful cutting boards from Phoenix Hardwoods. If you’re coming to Roanoke, you need to stop this truly unique place.

Had heard about this place from a friend so went by to check it out. Seeing the architectural salvage pieces was so interesting, but the big payoff for me and my two friends was that a big part of the building is also an antique/consignment type place. We spent a couple of hours prowling around in there while it rained outside - big fun!

A good friend and I love their show. We we really excited to be able to go this past weekend to see the marketplace. It was so cool to see some of the things that we had seen on TV. We even got to meet Mike and get our picture taken with him. If you get the chance to go to Black Dog you really must stop in!
