Spent the whole afternoon touring this museum,our tour guide was very knowledgable and interesting.Really enjoyed the afternoon.We spent 3 hours there and time flew by!! Well worth the time to go!!!!

Made the 45 mile drive from VA Beach today only to find the museum closed. There were open signs all over the grass but the place was locked up tight. Cut to a crushed 3 year old future train conductor. He had been so looking forward to it. We were ready to give this place 5 stars but unfortunately won't be making the trek again. :( Ended up exploring Cedar Hill Cemetery instead. Tried the museum again afterwards to no avail.

We got a private tour (as we were the only ones there) which was wonderful. The curator was very knowledgeable and tailored the tour to our interests. The little details make this tour worthwhile.

We were given a terrifically informative and personalized tour of Riddick's Folly by our guide, Mr King. If he doesn't know something about the house or its contents, it probably isn't knowable! He shared the history of the building, and could tell us how the museum acquired many of the pieces on display. I plan to take all my out of town guests to Riddick's Folly when they visit. The gift shop has an uncanny variety of lovely gifts - not your typical tourist junk!

When told it was going to be an hour and a half tour I almost didn't proceed. Glad I did, as I got a detailed tour of the house, owners and timeplace in history. If you like old houses, old stories, antiques, or civil war history this is a must stop.

Suffolk's Civil War strategy and a romantic story got my attention, however there are many aspects to the tour to interest all ages. Stairs took me to an area where soldiers left their mark and to another room that celebrated the life of Gov. Godwin.

The American Girl Workshop that we attended was extremely boring and led by someone who obviously did not work with children very often. The person tended to "talk" over the girls' heads and lecture more than "involve" the children in activities that would have excited them about the Riddick's Folly House or the American Doll. That and it was TOO hot and TOO many children and people in TOO small of a space. Just basically poor planning on whomever was the planner for this activity.

An awesome tour of a 19th century home by the director. He explained so much about the home and the treasures within. It is an absolutely delightful home and you can almost hear the old stories from the walls as you walk from room to room .

Amazing. Toured with the director and he was so passionate about the time period. He had assembled much of the collection himself. Very interesting, beautiful house!
