if you have kids and want to educate them about ancient history, then this is the place to go. I love there exhibits and find it very interesting. good place to spend a one day trip with the family.

I visited the Peabody Museum with my family 3 kids under 13) recently. It was terrific! Lots to look at: dinosaurs thrilled the youngest; minerals and animal displays engaged the older kids. The student docents are excellent, they have hands on manipulatives and do a wonderful job relaying information to the kids.

The peabody and modern pizza. what an afternoon. Sure, I've been to the Peabody many times and they don't change exhibits much, but it's a great place to wander thru for an hour

I didn't know that this museum was as nice as it is. It's not the likes of the one in NYC, but it is good enough to have a good time with your family. I attended a private event with my wife and it we were lucky that it was held here. We had a chance to interact with lots of people and to watch all of the exhibits.

Memberships are a good value if you cannot take advantage of free public hours. Gems and Minerals on 3rd floor is a very well done permanent exhibit not to be missed. AllAges.

Disregarding the chaos we endured because we visited the museum during some kind of Latin festival, the ant exhibit was appalling. The ants in the cases were actually dead, and the rest of the exhibit was simply blow up photos of ants and very little interesting or informative content. We learned nothing about ants except what they look like dead. And this is supposedly a traveling Smithsonian exhibit!

You don't even have to go inside to be impressed. Spend some time outside admiring the Gothic architecture. The stone mason work is amazing and makes for great photos, as does the outside dinosaur statue. We picnicked under the big fellow. There are street vendors if you forgot your picnic basket and the food is very good. The architecture inside is also breathtaking and it's a perfect setting for the wonderful displays. I have visited many museums around the world and The Peabody ranks with the best. The permanent displays are laid out beautifully and puts things in their proper settings (it's just like being there). The information plaques are full of interesting facts ans curators are around to offer further information. Many temporary displays are set up with sound and movies to instruct you on the display, which is like a free college lecture. There are also "hands-on-displays for the kids. Be sure to visit the well stocked gift shop. They carry everything from kids toys, stuffed animals and snacks to fine educational books and original native artifacts and clothing from around the world. It may be small and tight in the gift shop but it is loaded with interesting and one of a kind items. Not a gift shop to run through. Plan to spend some time there and find your treasure. Once exposed to this treasure trove you will return often. Call ahead as Tuesdays may still be admission free.

I went with my boyfriend this week. I had never been there before, but was very impressed. I loved the dinosaur fossils, the discovery room, and the birds. It was a great way to spend a few hours. Admission is $9.00 for adults and parking is free.
