My wife and I stayed in cabin 1 for 3 nights. It's a very rustic cabin with one large living area with double doors that open up to the large screened porch. Has a nice stone fireplace. Also has a window unit ac and a wall propane heater. The view is perfect of the woods and a nice hardwood bottom. We have seen several deer and plenty squirrels. It was a very pleasant stay. The only problems or concerns that may be an issue to some are as follows. The bathroom is very small and the shower door opens inwards once you step in you can't shut it. Very few electrical outlets and the one in the kitchen runs the fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. Run all three simultaneously and you'll throw the breaker. This cabin is very old and rustic and some of the interior is just worn out from years of use and abuse from visitors. Also note the cabin is about 50 yards or more from the parking spot downhill. I really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it. Louisville is very close by and has anything you would need if you forget something.

We stayed at Legion State Park in cottage #1. The cottage was a lot nicer than what I was expecting. The park was very quiet - maybe because we were there during the week. We loved the peacefulness and being able to just relax. There is not a lot to do at Legion State Park. The walking trail we went on was not well defined. I think someone from the park needs to walk through it and clear out the trail in quite a few areas, as well as make sure it's well-marked for novice hikers. We did find an abandoned house, an overgrown (abandoned?) amphitheater, and quite a few ticks. The self-standing porch swing would've been lovely to sit on by the side of the pond (lake?) had it not been in the middle of a bunch of trees and overgrown plants.Lovely place to get away. Not a lot to do. Hiking trails needs some attention.

Great place to bring your nieces, frog hunting, fishing, scouting, hiking around the lake, bring bikes or stroll down to the playground

A lot of history, as well as a very good state park to visit. It once served the Civilian Conservation Corp as it was being buitl, was a Boy Scouts of America Camp for years and now is a state park. A good many young men have passed through this park in future years and now visit it as adults.

Boardwalk on the far side, some woods, some open sun. Not very long - easy stroll around pretty lake.

My wife and I visited with our infant son in October, and stayed in Cabin 5 for 4 nights. The cabin was very rustic and fit our needs perfectly. Strangely, it appeared we were the only folks staying in a cabin on the weekend we visited, so the park was very quiet. Cabin 5 had a small kitchen, an enclosed bathroom (with shower only), a separate bedroom with a double bed, a large living room, and a large screened in porch. The cabin has central heat and air.The kitchen was small, but had a microwave, a full refrigerator, and an electric range. The living room had a large fireplace, but we did not use it since it was not cold enough. There was a large roll away bed in the bedroom, so that can be placed in the living room. There were double doors in the living room that opened up to the screened porch, creating a big space. There was also a bbq grill and large fire pit behind the cabin. There wasn't much wood that would burn well near the cabin so bring your own if you want to have a big fire. We bought some at the Wal-Mart in Louisville. There was no problem with mosquitoes. We fished a number of times in the large lake, but unfortunately did not catch a thing. There were very few people fishing, so we had the lake to ourselves. There is a nature trail of over a mile that goes around the lake. It is not very difficult to walk except for some large rises, and the trail has some signs along the way that identify a few trees/plants.This park is a great getaway. Be warned though that there is no tv or radio in the cabins (though we brought our own radio). This is the kind of place you go to for quiet, and loud radios would not be welcome. Nevertheless, if you are looking for a quiet, safe, beautiful place to just enjoy nature for a few days, this is a great place. The cabin was only $60 a night and included access to the lake (the office sells fishing licenses). The state park has a web site you can vist for pictures of the cabins and more information on the park: http://home.mdwfp.com/Parks/ParksInfo.aspx?id=98&lc=624
