It's awesome that such spots are being preserved.It is one of the numerous stops on the Mississippi Blues Trail.This is where the Delta Blues was born, or so they say. The whole premises is kept very neatly and looking in the guestbook you can see that this spot draws visitors from all over the world.I liked it that you can press a button and listen to some blues while looking around. The speakers have been placed in several buildings so you can just listen to the music as you walk around the place and imagine how it was, 100 years ago.

A special thanks to Mr Bil Lester who told me the story of Dockery plantation and showed parts specific currency planting and very rare. The Blues trail in Mississippi has lots of these little places along the way and although some of them are tiny - they all fit together and complete the jigsaw. It is only a short drive form Cleveland so hardly a detour and well worth calling at and reading the history associated with Dockery Farms.

This is it -- the place where the blues really got their start. Dockery's is a restored plantation that hosted some of the earliest and best blues musicians who set the stage for the one of most significant movements in modern music. The plaques scattered throughout the buildings tell the full story, but you will need to stop, sit and imagine yourself on a lazy night with a group of neighbors listening to songs that explore the depth of the human experience. The spring of 2014 will mark the opening of a new blues museum right down the road toward Cleveland. Don't miss this landmark, which is beginning to draw visitors from all over the world. After a stroll through the plantation, head into Cleveland for lunch or dinner and enjoy a true delta town.

There is so much history at Dockery Plantation that it is overwhelming. Great photo ops at the old Cotton Gin, and also you can press a button up near the Sunflower River and hear recorded blues music as it was played in the day.
