We rented a boat here for $60 /half day. It was fun for the kids to be out on the water fishing and swimming. You can rent fishing poles and minnows too.

One of the best maintained parks in the state. Many ramps for boat input. Great fishing. RV spots well maintained. Bath houses kept in good order.

This Missouri State Park (by the way, there is NO DOT in Harry S Truman) has many campground sites for RVs and tents with 3 restroom/shower facilities and a couple vault toilets in other areas. There is a marina, a boat launch, two swimming beaches, and at least two trails to hike to enjoy ozark flora and fauna, including glades. The primary draw for most visitors is boating/fishing on Truman Lake. Entrance is free, as for all Missouri state parks; there are fees for camping.Birding can be rewarding here, as there are several miles of paved roads giving access to oak hickory woods and the lake. But note that several sections of road may be closed to vehicles in winter as swim beaches and campgrounds are closed. The Thibaux campground mentioned in an earlier review is NOT part of the state park. It and the Truman Dam and Visitor Center are Corps of Engineers property; not part of the state park system.A visit to Harry S Truman State Park can be fun or frustrating, depending on your purpose and the season. If you want a quiet, nature-oriented experience, go on a week day and/or off-season, but be prepared for reduced services. After Labor Day you may find both swim beaches closed. The park visitor center may be closed. As winter sets in, the campgrounds close, often with only one remaining open.

The area was very nice. Well maintained, clean, friendly staff. The fireworks show over the dam was excellent. The local authorities did a great job managing the traffic after the event.

I rated this very good instead of excellent because we could only find one trail to hiking on. There is a nice playground area. The spots are nice and roomy from the neighbors and theres lots of paths leading down to the waters edge. The shower house was a not as nice as I had hoped but it is camping. We would definately go back and stay again because of the location to the water.

we have made a couple of visits to the Park, it is just a beautiful area. Our last visit was during the Harvest Days, we had no idea that it was a big as it was! We should have gotten there alot earlier so to be able to enjoy everything. This park is close to our home, so it is going to be a frequent place for us to go.

They used to be called campground hosts, but the people at Thibaut Point campground at Harry S. Truman Reservoir were just attendants, and, wow, were they ever rude. Their RV is across the road from the check-in building, which is only open for 5 hours in the evening. They won't lift a finger to help you with anything when it's closed, won't take your money, won't allow you to do the self-service type of envelope thing. Yet, they'll drive their golf cart on the road, with the sign that says no unlicensed vehicles, down to your campsite first thing in the morning, while they're supposedly off duty, and I'm sure this is a park-issued golf cart, with their park-issued clipboard, & hassle you for not checking in with them during their work hours. You need to report to us between 4 & 9 p.m. 9:06 didn't work for them. Well...bite me. What exactly are you paid to do if your office isn't open & the campground is covered with cigarette butts, cans & assorted other trash? This place totally blew because of these people. And it's way overpriced.

Another great place to visit to cool off when it's over 100 degrees. Lot's of interesting facts about our past president, history of the lake and dam and the local area. Great view as well!

The park is well maintained however the toilet facilities are few and far between.

All I can really say is that this is a MUST. You will never find anything more beautiful.
