This is not your run of the mill cave. It starts with interacting with not so friendly people at the desk. There you are told no cameras or anything that is not your clothes or shoes can go in to protect the cave and creators. We understand the need so we took everything back to the car. Then we went back in to look at the neat little museum and wait. The tour before us came back and 1 lady had a dog in a carrier strapped to her chest! Really we had to take my purse and stuff back to car to protect the cave but she has a dog? Then we got our lanterns because there is no lighting in the cave. Started our tour! It is a neat cave. We were at the end so didn't hear or see half of what he said! He was moving so fast we didn't get to look either. You see an AMAZING formation called a shower and tub. It is worth the trip alone. Our small children were done 20 mins in because of the fast pace and not hearing any info. We saw bats and salamanders. It's ok but not sure we would do it again.

We've visited several caverns, and though this cavern was smaller than many we've seen, it offered some unique attributes. For one, everyone gets to carry a lantern since there is no light installed in the cave. I loved that element of the tour, especially when we turned the lanterns off to see just how dark the cave was. The kids liked it too and wanted to keep doing it over and over again! There is only one really large formation, but it's worth seeing since it's one of only four of that variety in the U.S. We also enjoyed seeing small bats and tiny salamanders in the cave, and the tour guides were all helpful and easily answered many curious kid questions. Definitely a nice break from water activities for the day! My only caution would be that parts of the cavern are very narrow and low, so if someone has trouble maneuvering through tight spaces, this activity might not be the best.

This is a smaller cave system but was a very fun trip for our family of about 10 visitors. This tour is entirely on foot to the back of the tour area with great information about the bats and missouris cave systems , including getting to see many frogs which are also cave dwellers. Angel showers is very neat with literally thousands of gallons of water pouring from a formation thru the caves roof and then mysteriously disappearing into a bowl shaped formation in the cave floor. It is still unknown where the water comes from as well as where the water goes. There is a nominal fee for the guided tour and was definately worth it. Very well ran state park attraction.

We have been to many many caves on our vacations, but we have never seen a formation like the Angel Showers in Ozark Cavern. Water falls from the ceiling in a sort of shower-head way, and it lands on a depression that resembles a bathtub. Words can't describe how cool it was. The cave is in a very natural state, not lit artificially at all. The tour is done using hand held lanterns which gives it a very authentic feel. There is little to no incline, so the walk is effortless. But the highlight of the tour was the Angel Showers. It's a must see if you enjoy natural science!
