This is a great place to ride your bike. Scenic view of the lake, wildlife, flowers, benches if you need a break and so peaceful.

Decades of collaborative work and generations of citizens have created this bicycle and hiking trail from a shoreline formerly buried under slabwood, foundry waste, and construction rubble. The route circles Muskegon Lake, from the Pere Marquette beach on Lake Michigan to the Muskegon Nature Preserve, about ten miles in all. Interpretive signage has recently been added, combining nature with history. Sand and forest, sun and shade, civilization and seclusion at every turn, all safely free of barriers and traffic, unusual in an essentially urban area. There is still work to be done, but I consider this trail a tangible example of redemption.

I love this trail - it's just the right length for a leisurely bike ride and the views of Muskegon Lake are phenomenal! I regularly walk a 2-3 mile portion to and from and it's nice not to have to worry about motor vehicle traffic. Wish it was maintained in the winter. If one adds the portion of the trail from McCracken to the beach and the Boardwalk Loop, one can get a 20-mile bike ride. The Nature Preserve at the north end is very scenic and the boardwalk can be biked to make a loop. I'm lucky to live so close to this trail and to be able to use it to bike or walk!

OK... I stayed at the Shoreline Inn - and the trail is right outside it. I ran a couple times... ones all the way to Lake Michigan (where you end up off the trail and on sidewalks for the last bit) - and once going northwest toward North Muskegon where there's a sanctuary/park. I saw other cyclists, runners, walkers... smooth well-maintained trail. Well-marked. Very few major roads to cross. In some places, you feel away from it all. In others, feeling like in an industrial area. Yet... for a long run or intermediate bike ride - wonderful experience.

Rented a 2 person surrey. Most of trail hidden from roadway, along edge of Muskegon Lake. From downtown to Bluffton; about 10 miles round trip. Beautiful flowers, marshes, creeks. Some trail on roadway but designated bicycle lane. Marinas with boats, boats, boats! Need two people to power surrey!

Well kept, paved scenic trail along the Lakeshore. Recommended for those who just want a leisurely ride or would like to put in a few miles for the day. Nice places to rest and enjoy the sunsets.

This is a well-marked paved trail that goes through some beautiful areas by the lake. It also goes through residential well to do neighborhoods as well as some abandoned industrial buildings. We biked from The Depot to Pere Marquette park and it was great with only a couple of main roads to cross. It's a flat trail so it should an easy bike ride for most people and there are lots of places to rest along the lake but none once you hit the parts with bike lanes along the street.

I have been walking this path almost every day. I usually go half way starting in North Muskegon then head back. Its a nice scenic path and way prettier than walking along the highway. I'll keep walking until ice prevents me from doing so.

We loved the scenic ride along the lake. There were large swings for adults to stop and enjoy. There was another perch for several people to sit and watch a sunset. The lake was filled with sailboats and the large marinas we rode past were busy. We also rode through a large park. Great afternoon ride with lots to see!

My husband and I rented bikes at the Muskegon Visitors Center and hopped on the bike trail right across the street from the center. It was drizzling when we started but I am glad we persevered because it was a very fun morning! I hadn't been on a bike in about 20 years so the gloomy weather gave me a bit of time to acclimate not in the view of others, but even once the sun came out we mostly had the path to ourselves. The path has some lovely areas and views. From where we started we went probably 2 1/2 to 3 miles lakeside until we had to go up to Lakeshore Dr.-because of my inexperience we turned around and headed back the way we came and went an additional 2 or 3 miles to the nature preserve. Lots of fun! My only complaint was that the Visitors Center didn't really have a very good, clear map of the bike trail. And as travelers we could have used one.
