This is a wonderful tour which will start up again next spring. Put it on your schedule if you are in the area visiting Longwood, Winterthur, Brandywine River Museum. Well organized, nicely explained history of the own and visited establishments. These local entrepreneurs are so welcoming and put out their best in small, but substantial bites of their menues ... beautifully presented. A special afternoon with members of our nearby gourmet group.

On Sunday afternoon my husband and I enjoyed the Taste of Kennett experience. For $45.00 each we spent three hours on a walking tour of historic Kennett Square (the entire walk being only about one mile) with stops which included restaurants where we sampled delicious food and two local winery wine stores where we were able to sample some Pennsylvania produced wines. Along the way Ann, our tour guide, shared many interesting historical facts of Kennett Square. If you are looking for a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon, give this a try. I don't think you will be disappointed!

A bit daunting to think of spending 3 hours on a beautiful Sunday afternoon strolling and tasting, BUT we were so rewarded! Ann, our host, was charming and knowledgable about the food and the Kennett Square area. The foods we tasted (LOTS of it, but we ate almost every bite) were amazing. An array worthy of any foodie--tacos, pasta, crepes, sushi, soups, mushrooms many ways, seafood, just enough wine, ice creams, and a most welcome coffee at the end. Kennett Square is fortunate to have so many diverse, gourmet restaurants--we met many of the chefs, who were passionate about their offerings and their work. Highly recommend----a real bargain--you won't need dinner.

My friends and decided to have a girls get away. I found out about the food tour on tripadvisor. Our tour guide Ann was very knowledgable about the town, the buildings and the people. The food was delicious!! Each resturant presented their dishes. Even though it was a tasting at each resturant, we were stuffed! I have recommended this too my friends and family.

Let me start by saying that my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tour. Each of the restaurants provided wonderful tastings of their signature dishes, some of the tastings extremely generous, others more than sufficient. There was not one item that was less than tasty or less than well-prepared. The restaurants did a great job!! Our disappointment was with the wine samples. The first one was very tiny, maybe 2 ounces at most. We were told we could purchase a full glass if we wished ...not what I wanted to hear at our first stop. There were no other wines until we got to Paradocx where we received a bit more generous glass, but definitely a "tasting" size, not a full glass.Our tour guide, Ann, was very personable and seemed very familiar with the restaurants, their house specialties, etc. She also shared a bit of Kennett Square history, just enough for my husband and me, although history buffs might have yearned for a bit more.At $45 a person, this tour was a good value and I can heartily recommend it. My only two criticisms are (1) It was a little stingy on the wine side and (2) By the time it was over, the shops that had been open were closed, so we couldn't really do any "after tour" shopping in the area.

My wife and I have been on walking culinary tours in several parts of the world. We figured what the heck, let's give Kennett Square a try. Although we visit here with some frequency, we had only been to one of the establishments on the list so we figured it was a good idea to give it a try. We had some expectations going into the adventure based on our previous experiences. For the most part those expectations were met. We thought the quality of the cuisine was very good. At each stop we had a very nice taste of what the restaurant has to offer. Although our tastes might differ from the owners, we felt that each one put his best foot forward and we were impressed with the result. It was a very pleasant overall experience.If there were any shortcomings, it would be the discussion that went along with the tour. Although the three ghosts are funny, there is a lot about Kennett Square that was mostly mentioned in passing. I have an expectation that a guide should know all the subjects in spades; should be conversant about anything that comes up in conversation; and should keep a constant patter flowing between stops even if there are only a few people walking with her. I will say that Ann knew the restaurants and the cuisine. That was very good. I just wish there had been more depth to the other discussions.I think this is the first year of the tour, so there is definitely room to improve. It was worth our time and we really had a nice time. We would recommend this to others. You won't be disappointed.

Our book club took the tour on Sunday. What a fun afternoon! Even though we live nearby, there were restaurants on the tour that we had never been to. Each restaurant presented a delicious house specialty and we got to meet and speak with some of the chiefs. The timing in each spot was perfect. I also enjoyed hearing about the rich history behind of the buildings we were in and around town. My favorite restaurant ended up being one I have never tried, and I already have plans to go back. This a great outing for people who live locally.

Great fun, great value, great food! Would highly recommend this tour - especially if you have out of town visitors, as I did. Thanks, Ann, for coordinating a lovely afternoon for foodies!

I happened upon the Taste Kennett Food Tour while surfing for some Labor Day Sunday fun.Lucky me.This well organized tasting tour in the "mushroom capital of the world" turned out to be enjoyable and delicious.It appeared that no detail was left to chance in this perfectly timed and planned tour from the cold bottles of water that awaited us upon our arrival right down to the bright red umbrellas that were quickly handed out when it briefly rained.Kennett Square seems to have undergone a restaurant revival in the past few years.Ann, our guide, took us to a number of mainly newer restaurants plus a winery.. We sampled a diverse range of well prepared offerings which included Italian, Asian, Mexican, American, fusion that went from savory to sweet. We sampled wine in two different locations. At the end of the three hour tour, I felt quite full and satisfied but not uncomfortably stuffed.In most of the eateries, the owners or managers briefly chatted with us about their product, their background or their cuisine.We even got to visit a mushroom store and watch a short film about mushrooms.There were 12 other congenial guests on this tour. Seating was mix and match so it was nice to be able to briefly chat with a number of the other participants.Yet another bonus was free Sunday parking.Ann, was friendly, hospitable and accommodating throughout.. Even though she did share a few cursory facts about Kennett Square, she, by her own admission, was not really into the history. Although the focus of the tour was, of course, to highlight certain restaurants, a bit more trivia about Kennett Square past and present, the architecture, etc., etc., would have added more dimension to our experience in this charming, bustling small town.Nevertheless, this was an afternoon well spent.

Most foodies would be delighted on this three hour tour. Each of our stops, including 6 restaurants and 2 wine bars, had a marvelous short story attached to the enterprise's history narrated by Ann our tour guide. We met a few of the chefs , had delicious food creations and tasted some warm and light new wines. I have to tell you the pasta at Portabello's has made Kennett Square, a 45 minute drive for me, our next restaurant visit . I purchased a pouch of light and sweet tea wine from Paradox and will enjoy every drop of this refreshing new taste. I only wished I lived closer. The town of Kennett Square is so charming. My husband and I will be attending the Mushroom Festival (September 6 & 7) this year now that I feel I have a connection with some of the history of Kennett. We were also shown a short movie about mushroom growing and production at a sweet shop, The Mushroom Cap. Meeting interesting people, eating delicious food, tasting satisfying wines, what could be a better way to spend an afternooon?
