We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Papohaku Beach! We did not enter the water but loved the beautiful sand and view. Molokai'i is a great, restful place if you can live in harmony with the geckos.

We accessed this beach both from the road and from our rental condo at Kepuhi Shores. It offers a great walk with views of crashing waves and small sand dunes. Never did see anybody, though we did see some footprints.

The entire time I was on Molokai, not only did it rain but there was a pulverizing surf. I am a strong swimmer and grew up at the beach, but no way was I going in the water. The locals, however, were amazing. The aloha spirit runs strong here.

This is the most famous beach in Molokai, so has a good visible sign and facilities, but we didn't see anyone else. The beach is pretty, but water is rough, and no life savers, so won't take any risk to go in the water. The beach has tiny prickly plants which sting my feet, so recommend to ware shoes to avoid any injury.

I grew up in Hawaii. This is one of my favorite beaches in my home state and the one that best balances beauty, accessibility and isolation. Unfortunately, these adjectives may seem contradictory these days but they are not in the case of Papohaku Beach. This is an extremely rare experience and I highly recommend it. WHY YOU MIGHT LIKE PAPOHAKU BEACH1. Isolated and peaceful. There were approximately 20 people on the beach when we were there. All of us were just walking around, taking pictures or sitting and relaxing.2. Large. The beach is extremely wide, with ample room to roam, sit and admire the beauty.3. Picturesque. My wife and I visited at sunset with a couple of photographers. We were able to get some amazing shots with just our iPhone.4. Unusual access. This beach is accessed through an ill-fated subdivision. You will drive through a surprising number of vacant streets with fire hydrants every few blocks. You'll park your car near an overgrown golf course and walk along what were cart paths. A friend described it as having a "Planet of the Apes" feel.WHY YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE PAPOHAKU BEACH.A. It's not conducive to swimming. At least in the winter. When we were there the waves were downright scary (but beautiful). Don't be one of those people who visits and gets swept away. This happens every week in Hawaii and it happens to strong swimmers and local residents. Just don't go in.B. Lacking in beach facilities we have come to expect. No umbrellas and places to grab drinks or food. It's not that kind of place. It's part of the Molokai experience...rustic and unadorned.Papohaku Beach is reminisent of Polihale Beach on the west side of Kauai but it is much more accessible. Highly recommended!!!

If you want to feel like you are the only one left- this is a wonderful beach. we had the only foot prints in the sand. We did not do any swimming, we were warned by the locals about the bad riptides and told to do our swimming on another beach. It is a beautiful beach and wonderful for spending quiet time and walking the length.

This is one of the largest beaches of Hawaii--akin to Makena beach on Maui, yet there is no one here. It is absolutely gorgeous with great sand and some waves close to the shore. There are some eating pavillions and toilets, but no other facilities nearby. Great beach--highly recommended if you are a beach type person.

Pāpōhaku Beach is a wonderful beach that appears to be virtually uninhabited. We spent a lovely evening there, renewing our wedding vows. I couldn't think of a better place to do that renewal.

Beautiful 3 mile sand beach. Access through state beach park or various public access lanes. Great for beach combing and tanning. We just went in knee deep as the surf was large and rip tides present.

This is a three mile expansive of gorgeous golden sand that is fine and soft. We visited there two days and spent our last morning on Molokai walking up and down this beach. It is too rough in winter to swim and you do occasionally feel somewhat sandblasted if you are sitting on the beach. BUT it is the most incredible walking beach ever. The waves are beautiful, the sand firm and you usually have it all to yourself or just one or two other parties. LOVED it.
