ok, it is not really about the golfIt is about playing a more natural style of golf for a great price. FreeThe greens a maintained by the Experience staff and they are quite good. The tees and fairways, well they are maintained by nature. The greeens are as good as any I putted on my trip. The fairways and tees, well just find a good piece of grass and hit off of it. No big deal.The design of the holes was very good and I was the only one playing when I walked from the Four Seasons and started on the 550 8th hole. As I played it, I wondered what it could be if the fairways were better. I found it to be quite enjoyable and I played 9 holes in about 1 and 15 minutes. They have cards at the bell station at the Four Seasons with a map and distances of holes.The 7th would be a pretty good par 3 on any course and I enjoyed the walk and the ups and downs on the course"s hills Most will look at it and say no way. I say go enjoy a interesting part of the island and something quite unique. Kind of like going back in time. only got confused once on number 2. Was not sure what the right greeen to was. I guessed and was right. it was the one to the right. You'll understand if you play it.

Cavendish (9 holes) is owned by Lanai City and is FREE. No score cards, club house, or staff. The fairways and tee boxes are whatever is growing and might be described at "pasture like." Greens aren't too bad - watered and mowed occasionally. But as a contrast to highly manicured, expensive, resort courses, Cavendish is a real adventure. We played it twice. None of that highfalutin stuff - just hit the ball in the hole. We started on the 6th hole - nearest to rented house - and four of us played with one set of clubs. Nobody cared (actually we only saw a couple of people on the course) and we had a blast.

My husband and I accidentally stumbled upon the Cavendish, literally. We had gone out for a walk and met a dead end, so we decided to walk across a field which turned out to be a fairway! Fortunately no one was feeing off at the time. We walked quite a bit of the course until we finally came to another road. Anyway, we later told a local about our adventure and she told us that it is an active golf course (we thought it may have been abandoned). It is free and there are no tee times. You just grab your clubs and go play as many holes as you want. So if you want to golf but don't have time for the "biggies", this would be a great place to practice your shots!
