This museum was closed on Monday, but you can walk the grounds and look at the 30 something buildings on display on the property. It's amazing that the structures were able to be moved to this location for preservation. Myself and some friends spent about an hour walking around and reading the informative signs at each site. Would love to come back some day when the museum is open and take a proper tour.

Several buildings; educational tour explaining overview of life in this area. We want to go back & soak it in some more. Tour guides are passionate and well-read. Some encouraging as well as hard-to-swallow history.

For the quilters in the crowd, they have the best selection of older quilts (late 1800s - early 1900s) and they know a great deal about them. They have several buildings on site. I would think kids would enjoy walking around on the grounds and seeing the old cabin, houses, and schoolhouse. The guide was the guy in-charge, and he really knew everything about the museum.

A collection of actual buildings & items and info from 1800s and arranged as a village. One will be amazed at what "worked" back then as opposed to what we think we "need" now!

Impressed about the size and the knowledge of our guide. We had a two hour tour and got with the explanation of our guide, a perfect idea how people lived in those days. When you are on your own you'll miss a lot. The houses, a school building, kitchen, wagons everything and much more, collected and put in harmony together. Don't go if you don't have time, don't go if you want adventure or excitement but don't miss this museum if you want to see and feel how families lived around Lexington SC. A perfect stop in Lexington, SC

I have to say I was surprised at the size of the museum. From the road you can see only a few buildings, but the property just goes on and on! They have an impressive array of artifacts, too, including an awesome old vaudeville curtain and carriages that I was particularly smitten by. Every staff member I encountered was incredibly knowledgeable and could tell you more about just about any artifact. Don't miss the guided tour - wandering the grounds is fun, but seeing the inside of so many different kinds of buildings with an informed guide is so much better.

Living in Lexington, I figured I would visit since I had purchased a Groupon. It was nice to go visit, but it isn't too spectacular. It was neat to look in the old houses (we were able to look/go in 4), but you aren't missing too much if you can't make it...sorry to say.

Unlike some other attractions, this museum shows more how the average person lived in SC a few centuries ago. We had an hour tour just by ourselves through the entire place, which is much bigger than it looks at first. The tour guide was great. My wife's family is originally from this area, so she especially enjoyed this.

Narrated tour of all the houses on the site. Only a few were open to view, however noted on my calendar that Dec 8th will be Christmas open house and all buildings will be open for inspection. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. Would definitely recommend this historical site and will return.

This is a much smaller museum than the State Museum. It does have a few interesting exhibits and stories, but not much more.
