Three girlfriends and I took a chocolate making class at Rachel Dunn Chocolates. The class, while huge, was very well organized, and there were staff everywhere to assist with the sometimes clumsy efforts of those of us new to this skill. While we didn't make the base components of the confections, we did a fair amount of dipping and decorating, which gave us all an hilarious outlet for our artistic inclinations, and a new respect for the yummy items in the retail store. The instructor was clearly knowledgeable and humorous. The class was thoroughly enjoyable, reasonably priced, and ended with nice tastings of delicious confections made by the company. You end up with a pound of hand made (by you) chocolates and confections to take home, and an email link to recipes for all the items you worked with and "made". Well worth the time, efforts and calories.

I went with my friend to a Rachel Dunn Chocolate class. At first I was dismayed by SO MANY PEOPLE, but the staff was so organized and friendly that I quickly forgot about everyone else. We all had identical trays of ingredients and shared melted chocolate to work with. the class was conducted by Rachel Dunn herself and she's WONDERFUL. She's warm and friendly, smart and very personal. We used the ingredients to learn some of the ways chocolate candies are prepared. Some have thin coatings, some heavy and for very good reasons which we learned. You leave with 1# of candy that you've made and can buy more in the store in front. This was very interesting and fun; there were youngsters and men and families and old people. I would highly recommend this as a very pleasant learning and eating experience!!
