So much history at this spot but great place to hang out and walk around. Make sure to check out the Fountain Square website for all the events they have going on throughout the year, you won't be disappointed. Grab drinks on the square and head to any handful of great eateries before watching a play or heading to the museum. Of course if you are a romantic, catch an awesome buggy ride for some good history of the city.

First, the Fountain itself is stunning and a lovely piece of Cincinnati history. But, the square is also conveniently close to restaurants, food stands and there are often other activities in the square from music to ice skating in the winter. It's a great place for a fresh air lunch and to people watch. It is a nice hub of Cincinnati activity.

Fountain Square should be a must to see when you are in Cincinnati. Walk around the Fountain, stop and have a drink in one of the bars , talk to some locals. Take in the view in the dark.

This place is ah-some. It is surrounded by good restaurants, shops, & street shops. Horse buggy ride is informative & enjoyable. Plenty of sitting places to enjoy.

This is a beautiful space, and it really feels like the "heart" of downtown Cincinnati. They utilize this space in so many creative, clever ways. In the winter, families can enjoy ice skating, and in the summer, all sorts of activities fill the square, including live bands and music! The fountain itself is gorgeous, and definitely provides and excellent photo opportunity. Don't miss it!

My trip to Cincinnati last month to attend a cousin's funeral; didn't include Fountain Square. But I didn't use GPS and got lost. Cincinnati has changed since my childhood days of visiting during the '50's. But I could see the Fountain Square is still a place to visit. Their are Hotels, Stores, Banks, and a beautiful Fountain. I will return when I can appreciate the memories.

I have had wonerful experencies at Fountain Square and I have had not so wonderful experiences. It all depends on the event and the crowd. The square itself is beautiful and taking the kids ice skating can be a real treat. I do not find the carriage rides to be all that good, the drivers have gotten worse over the course of the past several years and the rides shorter. No more talking about the sights, just driving. So know the event and be prepared. The tree lighting at Christmas is awesome but you have to really like crowds for that event.

Fountain Square is a nice place to visit, especially when the Fountain is turned on and at night. But, sadly, Downtown Cincinnati has changed a lot over the past few years and not necessarily for the better. If you visit, especially at night, be aware of your surroundings and of who is surrounding you. Panhandlers and homeless people seem to like the Square. I was born and raised here in Cincinnati and I can remember when going downtown was a fun excursion that my sister and I made on a regular basis. While I dislike speaking less than stellarly of my own hometown, I have to be honest and say that downtown can be not so safe any more. Sure, there are a lot of terrific places to eat and the view from the top of the Carew Tower is spectacular, but safety should be the main concern when exploring. By all means, come and enjoy all that the Fountain Square area has to offer....shopping at Macy's and Tiffany's, Ice cream at Graeter's and taking in the art work painted on the buildings, including one by my favorite local artist, John Ruthven, but keep your wits about you and stay safe. I would be sad if your experience in the Queen City was less than great.

Fountain Square is the City Square of Cincinnati. It's bordered by 5/3 Bank HQ, Westin Cincinnati Hotel, US Bank and Tiffany and Macy's. Plus some great places to eat - including Cincinnati's favorite small batch ice cream (And Oprah's favorite) Graeters Ice Cream, McCormick and Schmicks, and the Art Deco palace called The Netherland Plaza. There is public parking below the square with public bathrooms and elevators that take you right to the plaza outside the plaza restaurant called Via Vite. During the winter there is an ice rink. But the star is the Tyler Davidson Fountain donated by Henry Probasco. Cast in Germany over 100 years ago. It features the Genius of the Waters and tells the story of how water affects our life. It's beautiful! And YES, this is the fountain in the opening scene of WKRP in Cincinnati from the 1970's. It's has been moved back from the street and faces a different direction now. ENJOY!

The weather didn't help. The numerous panhandlers didn't either. Might be nice in the summer. Average restaurants surround it.
