This is a little treasure in the city of Youngstown. You can always get a Groupon Coupon. This is an old mansion that is dedicated to preserving the past with fresh new looks each Christmas year. Donations by Youngstown and surround area residents make the hall and rooms shine with vintage Christmas decorations and memorabilia. Also upstairs now there is a vintage dress collection on display. Check out the Twinkler exhibit. Worth the trip to see this vintage Christmas decoration's story.

The Christmas displays are truly amazing but the rest of the year is very good as well. The museum offers sever slices from the past if memory serves there is even a history of radio exhibit on the upper floor. The past preserved here mainly focuses on family life in a now lost affluent era and the staff and curators are very knowledgeable to help point out the items that are not as obvious. Very close to the industry museum, The McDunnough and the Butler Museum of American Art for a whole day of museum pleasure. The Arms is an integral part of the set of history on the most cultures hillside in Ohio.

This is an old mansion owned by a famous family in Youngstown, now near the Youngstown State campus. It is often overlooked by the locals, but many are rediscovering it's unique featires. Besides the timely furnishings, there is a room which details the rise and decline of the steel industry in the city, and takes a look at the lives of people both rich and poor. We went at Christmas time when the museum had a special Christmas decoration display. It included trees and home decorations from the early 20th century to the 1970s. It is worth making a special trip there just to see the Christmas display. Put it on your calendar for the next holiday season.

is the theme for this year's decorations at the Arms Family Museum. Seven rooms of the house are filled with vintage decorations. Every room has a different style of Christmas decorating. I can't imagine the hours it took to set all the decorations up. Of course I'll go back in the spring as I want to see the house set up with the original household furnishings.

It's like a step back in time,.., a most beautiful home from the1900's. Beautifully furnished with period furniture and outdoorlandscaping.

The Arms Home is a delight to visit at Christmas! Antique decorations from the 1800's thru the 1950's. The home itself is a picture of the early 1900's when the smoke over the city told of its wealth from steel. It is very interesting to see the history of the city thru the "eyes" of this family.Glad they changes the name to the "ARMS FAMILY" museum. It used to be called the Arms Museum and everyone thought it was only about guns!

My family and I visited the Arms Family Museum during the Christmas season to view the holiday decorations and displays. The displays are very ornate and beautifully detailed. I was impressed with their collection of antique, vintage and modern Christmas collectibles. There is a good amount of things to see.One area that I was not impressed with was the uptight and unwelcoming behavior of some of the staff. Most rooms are manned with a museum docent who watch you very closely, which I understand why. But it can get a little uncomfortable if they are too overzealous in their duties. My family and I tried asking polite questions to ease the awkwardness of being stared at. When I asked about the decor of one particular room, the docent acted as if he didn't want to answer me and suggested I pay for a guided tour in the future! (We each paid a $6 admission) I even said "Hello" to another, who just stared at me blankly. I could just laugh thinking about it...This museum does not allow photography.

I love this place! It is truly an architectural gem, right in the heart of Youngstown. The visitor learns about the history of the home, the Arms family who lived in it, and local history. Group and walk-in tours are available. The museum also boasts a hands-on history room, for those who enjoy interacting with history.
