Always like to come to this metropark- has a lot to offer, from canal boat pulled by mules, to the working saw mill to the towpath trail. The park is kept up well with nice restrooms and trails that are good for walking and biking.

Can't go wrong coming to enjoy the beauty and history of this little town and the great Erie Canal and mighty Maumee River.

My sister and I went on the canal boat ride in the metropark. It was very interesting--they dress up in costumes of the time period and treat you as if you are traveling with them (back then). It was fun and educational--and the weather was fantastic!

This is a nice, out-of-the-way park to experience nature at it's finest and a little peak back in time with a visit to the old Mill.

A friend took us to ride the mule-pulled boat and tour the buildings last summer. It was a very nice outing - very informative and educational, helpful staff, fun things to do. When there wasn't a costumed interpreter available, signs explained what was in each room in the buildings. If nothing else, this is a great place to take your children to learn history in a fun way.

Nice little park, we came for the mule powered boat ride on the canal going thru the lock. Unfortunately, the lock was not working - we heard 2 stories, low water levels or mechanical problem. We will try again, but call before going.

This is one of the premier Metroparks of the Greater Toledo area. A beautiful site on the Maumee River, across the river from Grand Rapids, a great little town full of shops and restaurants. While at the park you can visit the working Ludwig Mill, take a ride on a mule pulled canal boat, which goes thru one of the original locks and/or take a walk on the tow path along the old canal which is next to the beautiful Maumee River. Plenty of picnic space or you can have a meal across the river in Grand Rapids. Don't forget your camera as there are lots of photo ops. There is a small fee for a ride on the canal boat, however the mill, visitor center and trails have no fees.

My husband and I live in the area, and this was our second trip on the canal boat ride. Our 6 yr old greatniece and her daddy were visiting and I thought she would enjoy the mule-powered ride. Not only did she enjoy it, but we all enjoyed the ride, the river and the narration. Afterward there was a visit to the Isaac Ludwig mill and the gift shop which sells some of the flours they grind at the mill. Highly enjoyable.

Took the grandsons for the day to the metropark and mill. Always a great way to spend quality family time together.

The Maumee Rivr meandrs from Fort Wayne, Indiana to the mouth of Maumee Bay into Lake Erie at Toledo Ohio. There are a number of vistas along the river, but the Providence park area on the North side ( along with the Canal boat ride and Ludwig mill) and Mary Jane Thurston Park on the south side where you can walk alone the canal tow path to and from historic Grand Rapids. It is a block lone trip to the early days of settlers along the river. Delightful local stores and don"t forget the Applebutter Festival the 2nd weekend every October
