You can't say, "Colorado River" without seeing the settlement made after the arduous task of crossing the River. Still the Ranch continues to 'feed' the summer weary guest.

Very well preserved and well marked ranch houses! A bunch of old equipment (well, some are parts of old equipment lol), a nice little orchard, a cool graveyard, nice corrals. I enjoyed wandering around here and taking pictures. We spent about 1 1/2 hours checking this all out :)

I have toured a lot of historical landmark and Indian ruins in the area, and must admit this is well preserved and in remarkable good and upkept shape. I have to commend the caretakers who keep this area free from vandalism. Plan to spend a half hour here touring through the various subsections on the old plantation.

Interesting old cottage of a Mormon Pioneer and well preserved. A lot of old equipment is still there and the orchard an oasis in the desert. Like a miniature Fruita district at Capitol Reef. Worth it for the drive there alone. Stop and see the Balanced Rocks on the way there and the start of Grand Canyon National Park at the beach along the river.

Beautiful old stone ranch house cottage built back in the 1920s. Peach and plum orchid on right next to it. Well maintained and I was encouraged to eat and take all I could. Refreshing in the 100 degree heat in the midst of summer. Plush green Oasis in the midst of the vast brown desert canyon. Old 1800's graveyard right next to cottage plus beautiful desert stream behind which leads into the Paria River. Trailhead alongside stream. Very Nice

We went to Lee's Ferry to see the Colorado below Glen Canyon Dam where it flattens out into a meander and is very beautiful. Just a short distance away from the river is Lonely Dell, which consists of an old farmstead and a still active orchard. Mildly interesting to see and understand that it had been there for many decades, but otherwise not worth a special trip.

This ranch, built by Mormons, became the basis for the setting of one or two early Zane Grey books. The remains of the ranch and grounds shows how Mormons were able to make a desert oasis 'bloom' in this narrow valley bounded by the Vermilion Cliffs, the mighty Colorado and the much more sedate Paria Rivers. A cemetery with a prominent tombstone marking the graves of four young children who died the same year provides a sobering note surrounded by stark beauty.

We stumbled upon this abandoned ranch while hiking. Lots of history here - read the information for the site and then check out the rundown cemetary. You can also see where they diverted water to take care of their crops - they were self sustaining. You can continue on and hike from the ranch.

This place is the only historic passage over Colorado River between Glenn Canyon Dam and Hoover Dam.At the middle of the 19'th century passage was done by Lee's ferry, Nowadays there is the Navajo Bridge.This is the terminus lower point for rafting departing from Glen Canyon Dam.You get by car to river shore and have beautiful views.

The lonely Dell ranch is a cool place to visit...I stop every trip to Jacob Lake from Tucson...The Ranch is a short walk from lee's ferry at the colorado river...Start at the orchard ..through the small homestead ...On towards the river( i think it is the paria river).. stop at the small cemetary and follow the irrigation system back to the orchard...have been told by the Ranger it is ok to yank some weeds from arond the trees and help keep it thriving
