I'll admit it, the Southern Crescent of ATL just doesn't have a lot going on for "date nights". Chain restaurants & teen-filled movie theaters certainly are an option. Live music is fun too, but we were looking for something less expensive and so I turned to Tripadvisor. We saw there was a Black Box performance of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. It was different. It was something interesting to do. And it was $10 a ticket. Black Box, we found out, meant that it was not appearing on the main stage - rather in a more intimate setting beyond the main stage area. There were probably about 50 patrons - it was sold out that night. The actors are on floor level, with you. This particular performance featured Steampunk costuming & makeup, which was done quite well & added an interesting twist to the traditional play. Some of the actors were true standouts, but overall, the play was well-done. Popcorn, candy, bottled water & soda were available for $1 - $2 apiece. Overall a fun night out on a budget. Legacy Theater in Tyrone offers probably a better quality show, but at almost double the ticket price. Glad we can support these local theaters and enjoy a night out without having to drive to Atlanta.

I've rarely seen a show here that I don't like. A little pricey if you don't go on the half off nights or buy tickets from a discount vendor. It's not for profit and the performers are volunteers, so the fees they charge are what it takes to offer quality performances. If they had a beer/wine license it would be perfect!

Kind of high school play production values, but it has its moments. This is an inexpensive evening out, perfect if you follow it with a good meal or drinks on the square.

We have gone to a couple of the plays and have really enjoyed them. They are well acted and produced. It's about the same price as going to a movie and I'd rather see one of their plays anytime.Locals and those from the surrounding communities who haven't gone to one of their productions don't know what a enjoyable night of entertainment they are missing. We are definitely going to try and see every show we can.
