Hiked around the lake with my wife and two little children (2 and 4 years old). Stunningly beautiful lake and one of the last primordial European forests. The hike trails were good although the trail map we bought at the tourist center was from 1984! On a wet day at least you would want proper hiking shoes and if you are hiking with little children it might be worth considering bringing backpacks to carry them in if they get tired (we did and were very thankful we did). In October there were virtually no other tourists there and we had the park to ourselves. During high season you might want to go very early and not on the weekend to be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the site without any crowds or avoid hiking just around the lake

lovely walk around lake. Fabulous views. Very quiet. Pity the cafe was shut. Colours of trees was lovely with the autumn leaves and to see the snow capped mountains reflecting in the still lake was wjonderful

The lake in the park was absolutely amazing and we had a beautiful walk around it. Would definitely go back to spend a longer time hiking.

Stunning scenery and a one and a half hours walk around the lake- fantastic !!! Be sure to wear walking shoes, trainers - not sandals as the surface in some places is uneven.Beautiful reflections in the lakes of the trees and mountains, Biogradska National Park is a "must see" when visiting this area of Montenegro.We stayed in Kolasin - and this amazing park is easy excursion from there.

We really enjoyed trekking across this area of outstanding natural beauty. The mountains were full of wild flowers, fungi and wild fruit in abundance. You are really on your own when you are up there. We did not see another soul (apart from a shepherd tending his flock) all day. Sublime!

If you are travelling in Montenegro this place is a must see. Virgin forest you cant get this in many places on the planet now. There is a path all the way round the lake takes an hour or so to walk it. Its pretty easy walking although a little uneaven and loose under foot in places so not in flip flops.There are information boards explaining things as you walk around. There is a shop selling maps books pictures etc. There is also a cafe were you can get a bite to eat and a strong coffe you're spoon stands up in. The road up to the park from Podgorisa is pretty amazing as well it follows a canyon most of the way up stunning. This country in general is stunning I've travelled extensively all over every road you drive has stunning views.

... nice and cheap hats. It definitely pays off to visit this national park during a stay in Montenegro. Hiking paths are almost always marked properly and you can remain for hours at this national park without getting bored. The entrance to the park costs a little fee (can't remember the actual ammount) but it's worth it.

It´s an exceptional place in Europe, pure nature, nothing less, nothing more. It´s ideal to walk around the lake and relax. Try to visit the lake out of the high summer season or in the early morning so that you are not disturbed by other visitors, only in this way you could fully enjoy its magic.There is one lookout construction, a short walk above the lake, if you want to see the nature in its best, try to visit it, but don´t expect too much, unfortunately you can´t see the lake from it.

We visited Biogradska at the end of April 2014... be aware that at this time of the year, there's still quite a lot of snow on the paths. We hiked up to Bendovac mountain and had to cross several avalanches. Also around the lake there was still quite some snow. Better to visit in summer I guess!

Pleasant for a walk around the lake, especially in early autumn when leaves get beautiful colors and the trees and the mountains reflect on the surface of the lake. Some visitors like to take a boat and fish in the lake, or hike up the mountain slopes.
