Beautiful square during the day and night. Lots of people just hanging out. Not to be missed on the visit in Santiago de Compostela.

I let the catedral and walked around the square. There's a unique experience: walkers that finished the santiago's route, people that life in the city, students, turists... All is in a kind of magic.

With the cathedral, Hostal dos Reis Catolicos, the university rectorate and the casa municipal, this square is the centre of Santiago. At Xmas the Belen was a bonus.

one of the nicest squares we have been….and the cathedral facing the square…it gives a feeling os history and glamour, of religion and sacred stories….

The square is bounded by the cathedral, the university, the town hall and a 16th century hotel, which was a former hospital. Overall, the architecture is magnificent and the cathedral is a 'must-see' in its own right. The façade of the hotel depicts statues of the 12 apostles, which is well worth a closer look. Access to the cathedral is from this square, which is a good place to start a walking tour of the city.

No words can describe the feelings (yes, the many feelings) of arriving in Santiago after the long days walking the Camino, Once you turn the corner and walk into Obradoiro Square ( The Golden Work) you are immediately overwhelmed by the sense of accomplishment as well as humbleness

This plaza o como dicen en Galicias Praza is like to walk through history, and art, around the Praza u will have Neoclassical Style, renaissance, gothic and baroque in the Cathedral towers, this square is for me one of the most beautiful of the whole world

Teeming place with hikers and others. There was varied music (bagpipes!), and a car show that we enjoyed.

It's worth going to the Praza many times to watch the pilgrims arrive. The emotions they show are priceless, ranging from ecstasy to tears of joy or relief. Groups of pilgrims are even more fun to watch. The Praza normally provides a superb view of the main portal to the Cathedral, but scaffolding now blocks that view. Be prepared for that disappointment. We weren't.

This square is huge, and traffic free. It is full of meandering tourist, people completing the camino. They would make for a large box in the middle of the square, stand on it and have their picture takenOne side of the square is dominated by the Cathedral, the other by the Parador and then the town hall.At each end of the square their are little walkways.Great at night, the city comes alive. Their are medival players under the arches of the Town Hall - totally fabulous, at the other end under the arch either a guy playing the bagpipes or an opera singer.Totally vibrant place to be
