enjoyed this visit just to say that we have been there. Not much to see or do unless you paid to go into the museum.

The Cape of San Vicente is remote and feels like the ends of the earth. Basically it is the ends of the earth since it's the western most point in mainland Europe. It was winter and there weren't a lot of tourists during our trip which made it nice to visit without the crowds. As we drove up you could see the ocean off in the distance with a lighthouse behind a wall and two red painted iron gates. As we got out to stretch our legs the first thing you notice is powerful wind blowing hair and anything not attached all around. The second thing was the loud waves crashing below. There was a low wall overlooking the ocean where you can realize how high the cliffs are. Nearly vertical ( I had too look it up ) about 200-250 feet down. I noticed people fishing and climbing partway down the cliffs with the huge waves crashing beneath them. I took a walk along the rim overlooking the ocean a bit too close to the crumbly edge. The wind being so strong and the rock beneath your feet loose I recommend some caution getting too close to the edge of the cliffs. It's so far... and feels so alone when you stand there separated from nearly everything. I hadn't expected the cliffs to look so massive and endless. It definitely made me see how some writers came up with those classic novels and the descriptions of the landscape being so clear. This view was beautiful and unique. It feels like there should be a monastery where people are sent to contemplate out on the cliffs. The wind is so strong nobody could bother you unless they're next to you, and there's nothing to do but to look. The drive was long and it was definitely a needed break. We were doing a tour of the Algarve and this really didn't have any meaning to me when I read about the site. I've seen plenty of lighthouses. It was more beautiful than I thought. No there's not a lot to do besides stopping and having a look, but BOY what a VIEW! It's definitely someplace I could see sitting down and having a nice quiet time either alone or with someone to watch a sunset and listen to the crashing of the waves far below. It almost felt like CG in a movie because everything seemed too perfect to be anything else. The sunny day was a pleasant break on our mostly wet visit to Portugal and seemed to keep hitting us at the right times... There is a gift shop on the grounds and they do have snacks and bathrooms to visit. Outside of the lighthouse grounds there are only cliffs so if you want to take a seat and look out for a while a cushion or blanket would be a great idea. A short drive down the road there are shops and it looks like a retreat that we drove past on our departure. This is the view from the ends of the earth that shouldn't be missed. If nothing else but to say you have been there and saw the place where long ago people thought they would fall off the ends of the earth. I think for most people on our bus (myself included) it was a break and chance to stretch our legs. I can look back at it and appreciate it far more today.

A rocky promontory with lighthouse. Very wind blown, but a place to see the full force of the Atlantic Ocean.

Cape St Vincent is the corner of Europe and it feels like it. The cliffs are spectacular and the views wonderful. The lighthouse is well worth a visit.

This is a great place to visit if you can get into the lighthouse it is worth it I visited some years ago and the keepers and there families were very welcoming and it made for a great visit, make sure that you look out for the fishermen half way down the cliff face. Once you have visited the wild cliffs then make your way to the fortress in Sagres well worth a visit and then the village itself a wonderful place with lots of restaurants and great beaches.

A magical and inspiring place with great views of the adjoining coast. A key location in the geography of the European continent

At a first glance, it´s only a Fortress, dated 16th century, with a breathtaking view. In fact, is far, far more than it. From there in the 16th Century, the Portuguese Prince D.Henrique, launched the sea quest that "gave new worlds to the world". It´s a magical place. From times to times, there is some major events, so, get informed. Besides, since there is no guides, get informed, before you go.

If you are going to visit Sagres, don't pass up the Cabo--known as the end of the world during Age of Discovery. Great views of the coastal cliffs.

I believe most of people feels stronger than the Cabo da Roca as here is the END of land with high and steep cliff. I understood meaning of 'Algarve' is correct at here. I heard here is west-south point of Eurasia continent. Comparing to here, the Roca is only the westest. It takes one hour driving from Albufeira.

Really scenic and great for photos. The lighthouse area is super windy... Make sure that you bring some warm windproof clothes. It is a great place at the end of the world! Worth a visit.
